[Nintendo] Wii Deluxe price drop and the 2DS handheld.

Recommended Posts

rondo

Nintendo has finally brought about a price cut for their woefully performing Wii U, down $50 to $300 at retail. There is also a Zelda: Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle coming, the same as the deluxe with the exception of Zelda graphics on the gamepad, also $300.

Nintendo is going to release another, entry-level-ish handheld called the 2DS. No 3D, no folding, and at $130 at retail.

So, you gonna take that Wii U plunge now and/or get the backwards moving 2DS?

Nintendo in charge of making hardware.

I'm so glad I stopped buying Nintendo products after I got my Wii. With the release of the underpowered WiiU, the under performance of the 3DS, and their constant shilling of "Hey remember this game? WELL NOW IT'S IN HD!" I'm surprised they're still in business of making hardware. How many times can you release the same game on different platforms? Not only that but they're stagnant as well; all the New Super Mario Bros. titles have had the same graphics, same gameplay, and same layout. This is one day going to bite them in the butt, if it hasn't already.

The WiiU and 3DS barely compare to the PS4/Xbox One or the Vita respectively, at least in terms of pure technical power. Even if the console was 200 dollars, I'd still be hard pressed to tell any one it is worth it.

2DS: Ultimately, it's harmless. Furthermore, they're aiming it at kids. It's why there isn't a hinge and it has no 3D functionality. They'll still be making money off the thing, especially with Monster Hunter 4 releasing in Japan shortly and Pokemon X and Y out in October (the same day the 2DS comes out) which are guaranteed to sell like mad.

Price Drop: About on cue. The Wind Waker HD bundle should be a good deal for people who want it. Heck, it even has a digital copy of the Hyrule Historia in it.
