Con personal care

Recommended Posts

Is it bad if someone made a booth dedicated to personal hygiene?I forgot my deo and had to run around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get to a local store.I don't think I'm the only one and I don't think its offensive. What do you guys think?

It's not a bad idea honestly. The only thing that I could see that may prevent it is the Hotels saying you can't do that because they already have little shops in their hotels where they charge for it. One of the reasons vendors can't sell food in Donald E. is because of the people they already have selling stuff like pizza, ice cream, and hot dogs.

The idea has legs though and I'd say its worth asking if you're serious about it. IDK if possible, but if you somehow made the items anime-related maybe it would boost sales and encourage better hygiene. LOL

I mean some places had no shops and I haven't seen any rules stating that we can't sell those things, just food.I think I'll see if I can do it because I feel as though people would take the chance to clean up(those who didn't or couldn't) better if it was affordable..lol

The booth that had those ACen t-shirts had little soap bars for sale. That's pretty close. :P/> But yeah, this is actually a really good idea.

Thanks

Was *Totally* wondering where all the Ramune and weird stuff like that was. The more you know.

Gonna have to find some underground bootleg dealers next year for the fix

Oh my gosh get out of here.. I had no idea that existed, and our drive home went right through Arlington Heights. Next time that bears investigation!

I definitely think that this is an idea that can take off.

Maybe if you find out the AA rules you can see if you can do this in Artist Alley?

Just a suggestion

First of all that's the same person. Second you wouldn't be able to sell those items in the Artist's Alley since as per the rules "...anything sold at the table must be a product of your own creative work" - http://www.ACen.org/content/artist-alley-policy So unless you are going into the soap making business you won't be able to sell in the AA at least.

First of all,I didn't know it was the same person because I've never sold anything at this convention.Secondly, I am going to be producing all of my work.Nothing will be commercially made, and if I am going to be selling commercially made products it will be in the Exhibitor's Hall.I already knew what ways I could go with my idea.I just didn't know if I could sell items for hygiene because I thought it would go against the hotel's rules. AA states we can't sell food so to be safe I contacted the DH before I continued working, but thanks for the advice.

Oh um sorry I didn't mean my post to come off as mean or anything. I tend to type really tersely, and I forget that sometimes it can sound kinda like a b!tchy response. I need to work on my wording! And also, I forget not everyone is a forum junkie like me. Voltaire30 is the AA/EH/AS/etc dept head. He doesn't post too often though, so it's possible you'd never really run into him unless you're in the AA subforum.

You said you were stocking up, so I misunderstood that you were buying like bulk soap from Sam's Club or something. I love handmade soap, btw, and I use it almost exclusively unless I need antibacterial soap!

I think it would be pretty cool if a soap-maker came to ACen, especially if they made geeky soaps like this person. You'd kind of have to put a spin on it though to sell at ACen, so maybe even themed soap... like scents that refer to anime... like Samurai Champloo sunflower scented soap. :D

I wouldn't think there would be any rules against it since it isn't a consumable, and the food restriction is because the convention center, not the hotel, has the food contract with them. Your best bet is to contact the dept head though.

Oh its cool, sorry if I got really defensive. I'm just having a hard time deciding what scents to use as well as packaging.

Flower scents would be a good place to start for the ladies out there, while "spicy" scents would cater well to the men out there. Fruit scents would be lovely, too. Nothing like coming out of the shower and smelling like fresh berries. :3

Those are awesome ideas! I found a really great lavender mix that I might try out tomorrow.

Another idea: chocolate. I wouldn't mind smelling like sweet chocolate. Oatmeal soaps are an idea, too.

Hm...not bad. What would be reasonable prices?

Make it smell like takoyaki ;)/>

lol...

A fun thought: soap scents/names from MLP. Between the names of the ponies you can get a lot of cool soap names and scents. (Another fun idea would be naming them after songs - a soap themed after the "sunshine, sunshine, butterflies awake" song, for instance.)

Hm... not really sure what to charge on prices. Hm hm... Something single digit for sure, maybe around $5 or so, depending on how much effort/resources it took to make the particular soap.
