  1. Homestuck

Kinda sad that I'll probably be missing this shoot (I'll be helping to get the happy attendees registered and badged), but I'll be Roxy Lalonde on Saturday, and rooting for you all from the Registration hall!
  2. need help with revys tat skeem

Duplicate post/topic. Closing thread and deleting. Please refrain from creating multiple threads on the same topic. Thank you.
  3. Prayers from Cosplayers!

(I was torn between posting this in Chit-Chat or Cosplay, but I think this location is more fitting.) This is such a cool little site. It's a way to send a smile or a little "Don't give up!" message to Japan via cosplay. Just take a look: http://prayersfromcosplayers.com/ According to the site, it's a way to send a message to our friends in Japan who share the same hobby as we do. It looks pretty simple to do--Dress up in full cosplay or just ears and paws, write a note and take a photo.
  4. Yukinari's Massive Photo Horde!

    Thread moved to "Picture Time!".
  5. The Facebook Tagging problem...

You don't have to friend the people--I have tagged myself in photos for people I have not friended, but some members require tags to be approved for people they do not know. Just PM the person and let them know which photos you are in (and maybe thank them for getting your photo--people like to hear that), and sometimes they will approve your tags (other times they won't, but so far I haven't had that problem).
  6. Misfortunate Cosplay Mishaps

Hmm... my mishap was that I lost one of my armwarmers for my cosplay. I thought I left it in the hotel room, but it was totally missing :( It doesn't seem like a huge deal, but it's like this: not only were the armwarmers part of the cosplay, but they hid the support structure for the gravity-defying bracelets of doom, so I couldn't wear those either! Ah well--I can make another in a half-hour, but it still sucks to not have such an important part of my cosplay...
  7. ACEN 2011 Photo Gallery Thread

    Closing duplicate thread.
  8. Private Photoshoot! Sign up now!

Auds, you are sooo cute~! I enjoyed our photoshoot; you are very professional and very patient as a photographer, and your personality is awesome so you are overall incredibly nice to work with. I am very excited to see how the photos will turn out!
  9. Overall Cosplay Photo Request Thread 2011

Yeah, sorry guys... I opened the new thread, and then proceeded to move the recent requests so people wouldn't have to repost. My own opening post got bumped down too, so I had to go back and hijack the first post!

  14. Overall Cosplay Photo Request Thread 2011

Hi! This is the photo request thread for 2011--if you are looking for a photo of yourself, please direct the requests here. Please do not start multiple individual request threads, because ALL NEW THREADS WITH PHOTO REQUESTS WILL BE DELETED. Trying to keep this area clean, folks! Thanks, and Good luck!!
  15. Men's Anti-perspirant

You can also try these if you don't want visible pit stains (they are adhesive instead of sew/pin-in). Like dress shields, it kind of serves as a backup just in case you defeat your deodorant. They (not that particular brand) can be found on the notions wall at Joann fabric stores, and they must work at least a bit--they always sell out at the store I always shop at!
  16. creepers beware

Additionally, putting the thread in the Insanity forums did not help the situation at all. This place is a trolling haven of sorts--if you want serious thread, post in Chit-chat (you can also ask to have it moved if you really don't want it to get super-derailed). Insanity is called that for a reason, ya know? ;)
  17. ACen can you deal with this?

 Not understand what see... ...but that is a pretty cool photo, and some spiffy shirt action.
  18. That's So Gay..

While I do get your drift, isn't having to explain the semantics behind (thereby extending) a three-word phrase kind of stretching and over-complicating it? It would be a great deal easier to use a different and less offensive word/phrase in the first place than to have to explain what is essentially your personal belief in justifying use of a word/phrase that offends people. I say "your personal belief" because when you break it down in reverse, it just does not work. Ignorance is not literally bliss. You cannot substitute the word "ignorant" for the word "happy" or "blissful" in common English language. Examples: "I'm so ignorant--today is Friday AND payday, so I can go out and buy that book I've been wanting all month." (happy) "She looks so ignorant eating that chocolate cake--it makes me want some, too!" (blissful) (See? Doesn't work the same, eh?) That's because the phrase "ignorance is bliss" is a simplistic way of explaining the burden of knowledge upon the minds of people who know what it is like behind the scenes, i.e. a person is happier the less they know about the inner workings of certain things (like politics, running a business, stuff like that). For example, a person who thinks that the stars above them are literally the spirits of their ancestors watching over the world would be considered ignorant about the fact that a star is essentially a burning ball of plasma in space. They are happy to look up at the sky every night, wouldn't feel stupid/embarrassed directing a conversation at oh, say... the North star (even in front of others), and may be less afraid to go out at night because they feel like they are not alone--that is their bliss. Meanwhile, an astronomer would probably look up and think, "Hm, Polaris is visible tonight," and would likely find more occasion to curse at his telescope for not focusing properly than to talk to the sky. Not much magic there (even though science is amazing in its own right)--his education on the nature of stars prevents him from sharing the other man's bliss. So TL;DR, not only do I (respectfully) disagree with you, but I find your incorrect use of semantics to defend the use of an inherently offensive phrase shows you are quite "blissful" about some things as well (no offense ;) ). I'll just leave this here...
  19. Trading Post

I have the stock of a small fabric store in things I don't need! I always thought that trading it would be a good idea, but it's really hard to get a good, honest-to-goodness swap meet type of thing going, and I don't belong to a sewing/crafting/cosplay circle. Maybe I'lll start listing stuff I don't need on my facebook page and start taking offers XD
  20. Type with your eyes closed!
