  1. Unofficial gatherings

    I made a thread: https://www.ACen.org/forums/index.php/topic/47281-fullmetal-alchemist-2016-unofficial/ I hope I didn't just make a n00b out of myself.
  2. I know it's way too late to be added to the schedule, but I want to put out feelers if anyone would be interested in a Fullmetal Alchemist meetup type thing. Would Friday or Saturday at 2:30 pm be OK? I'm not sure exactly how I'm supposed to do this, so please help me out.
  3. Unofficial gatherings

I'm one of those aforementioned people who was emailing at the last minute. I just learned today that people are supposed to request photoshoots in the forums. Then again, that was a moot point for me because I had trouble logging in until today. ^^; Anyway, since I don't know any ACen-goers on social media and I've talked to all of the (very few) people I know personally who will be going, can I try to organize an unofficial something-or-other using this thread or should I make a new one? Thanks.
  4. Vest Pattern

Thanks so much! I'll try tracing a vest, and if that doesn't work out, I'll buy one of those patterns. Thanks again!
  5. Vest Pattern

I know very little abut sewing. And yet, I want to sew my own vest. At last year's ACen, I went as Greed from FMA. What I did for the vest was buy one off eBay and safety-pin a fluffy collar to it. This year, I want to upgrade to something that looks less slapped together. I went to a fabric store and bought some faux leather and bias tape. After a while, the thought of, "now what?" started to sink in. I consulted someone I know who knows a little about sewing. He said I need a pattern. Oops. My second trip to the fabric store was not so fulfilling. I asked for help, and the lady at the store patiently showed me how to browse patterns. She even took my measurements (I still have them written down). My problem is that all the patterns were... girly. So here are my questions: Where can I find a pattern that'll fit me AND not look feminine? Is there some possibility that I could design my own? How would I go about doing that (Someone suggested that I trace my biggest unisex t-shirt)? How would I attach the bias tape and last year's fluffy collar? Would I have time to finish the whole project if I worked really, really hard? Just so you know, I do have a lot of sewing supplies such as needles, thread, pins, measuring tape, and other stuff that I can't think of right now. No sewing machine, though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  6. Hello? Is this thing on?

Thank you both for the warm welcome.
  7. Hi. Call me Keba. I'm new to the ACen forums. Obviously. I've been going to ACen on and off for a few years, but I didn't really get serious about it until last year. Last year's ACen was the first time I cosplayed. I went as Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist (pick a continuity, any continuity). I guess I signed up for the forums to find cosplay tips. In case you're wondering, I'm going to reprise my roll this year. If you assume that I'm a Fullmetal Alchemist fangirl, you're right. It's my favorite manga. I'm not so fond of the first anime, and I haven't seen "Brotherhood", but I'm kind of in love with the manga. When it comes to anime, I'm not sure what my favorite is. My first instinct is to say Death Note, but I'm not 100% certain it's my favorite. In fact, I've never seen an anime that I didn't find some redeeming quality in. Sure, with all the anime out there, I'm just at the tip of the iceberg, but I'm always looking for more to watch. As for what I like to do, I'm an artsy person. I've been drawing as far back as I can remember. I also knit stuffed animals. Sometimes, I write stories, but I've been bad at finishing them. I also play guitar and write my own songs. I'd kill to be in a band. When I'm not doing that stuff, I'm online, usually at theotaku.com. I'm kind of a shy person, but I'm really friendly once you get to know me. I guess that's all I can think of to say.
