  1. Driving from Milwaukee, WI

    Van is full, sorry!
  2. Two of the people staying in my room just dropped out, so I have 2 spots that need to be filled. We have a room at the Intercontinental O'Hare, 10 minutes walk from the Hyatt according to Google maps, and less according to a friend who attended previously. It is a mixed-gender room, everyone is 19+. You may need to sleep on the floor. I would prefer two people going together, who could share a room key. We are planning on staying late at the raves, so be aware that people may be entering/exiting late at night. SPOTS WILL ONLY BE RESERVED UPON RECIEVING PAYMENT THROUGH PAYPAL! I will send you a request for payment upon recieving email confirmation that you will take the room, and you MUST fufill that payment within 24 hours of that email exchange. After that, I will cancel the transaction and go to the next person. If you are interested, please email me at fabiogirl49 AT hotmail.com. I will give you prices then. If theres anything I forgot, feel free to ask questions!
  3. Safest Method to Carry Money

As a cosplayer, this has been an issue for me. I agree with sewing in a hidden pocket, but sometimes that isn't feasible. In the past, I've had a little drawstring bag connected to my costume and hidden inside my clothes. But for tighter costumes....that won't really work. I sometimes wear my wallet around my neck, under my clothes/costume. And I might stick that wallet in my bra so it doesn't show under my costume. But why on earth would anyone leave their money loose in their bra?! Sure, I store stuff in there, but who knows what crap is on your cash? At least put it in a wallet or bag, both for your sake and the sake of others! But I do tend to get worried when I'm running around a con and my money/wallet's just in a pocket. I use a wallet with a ring attached, and I like to shove the wallet in my pocket and use a caribiener to attach it to my belt loop, so I don't have to worry about it falling out. I also tend to use zippered/buttoned pockets as much as possible. There's just to much risk otherwise. If you are a cosplayer and the aforementioned methods don't work for you, I suggest clever prop choice. Find a bag that goes with your outfit, or blends in, like a drawstring backpack with straps that match your shirt. I've also heard of people using hollow props with inner compartments, like a book. Failing that, just get a friend to carry it. But make sure you will be staying together!
  4. This is probably a pointless question, but I need to ask anyways. Last year you could have foam-tipped arrows loose on your costume. Is this no longer the case? All arrows need to be fastened/secured in some way? Also, are large props (taller/extending out further than alloted) still acceptable if they can be broken down and carried inside the six inches allotted? I am assuming they are, but I don't want to put hours of time into my prop just to find out I can't actually use it. Specifically, I am looking at makeing a large scythe. The entire thing, when assembled, would be just over my height (six feet) and the blade, which would be wood or plastic, would extend quite a bit further than six inches out. The head/blade segment would be able to be unscrewed from the staff for transport, and I would construct a sling to carry it on my back, flat against my body. The staff then would be under the height requirements and the entire thing would basically not extend at all. Sorry for the repetitive questions! I just want to be safe and avoid a hassle at the con itself (which I'm sure would be a pain for IRT as well as me!)
  5. Looking for 2 Roommates

FYI, since I did not hear from you, I have reserved both spots for Lica~chan. Sorry!
  6. Looking for 2 Roommates

Yes, both are still open and we would love to have you! If you'd like to email me at fabiogirl49 AT hotmail.com, I can give you more information and we can make sure everything will work out, and I will reserve your spots!
  7. Looking for 2 Roommates

Yes, we still have room! Since the last poster hasn't gotten back to me, I am not reserving her a room, so both spots still open. BTW, epic avi.
  8. Looking for 2 Roommates

Awesome! I will be in touch with you as we figure more things out. If possible, could you either email me/give me your email so I can contact you more directly as we get more information?
  9. ALL SPOTS CURRENTLY RESERVED!!! We have a room at the Intercontinental O'Hare, 10 minutes walk from the Hyatt according to Google maps, and less according to a friend who attended previously. We had two of our roommates drop out, so we need 2 people to take their place. Everyone staying in the room is under 20, so we'd prefer people around the same age. It is a mixed-gender room. You may need to sleep on the floor. No one in the room smokes, drinks, or does anything illegal, and we would like to keep in like that. We are planning on staying late at the raves, so be aware that people may be entering/exiting late at night. That being said, we are pretty cool people (at least, I like to think so!) and are pretty chill, so as long as you aren't doing anything illegal, we'll probably be cool with whatever. Cosplayers welcome, we all cosplay and will have a multitude of props and costmes that we'll probably lock up in the closet for peace of mind. It'd be really awesome if we got two roommates that were coming together and could share a room key, as there are never enough to go around. Price is extremely reasonable for the weekend, we are looking in the $60 range for the entire weekend. Since we have had people drop out, we will want roommates to pre-pay, probably through paypal as soon as I figure out how. This is to protect us from getting screwed by no-shows and drop-outs. If you are interested, please post here and/or email me at fabiogirl49 AT hotmail.com. If theres anything I forgot, feel free to ask questions!
  10. Lookin for a place to stay!

I don't know if you are stil looking, but we have room for 2 more. We are staying at the Intercontinental Chicago O'Hare, which is less than 10 minutes walk from the Hyatt. I know that that is further than you'd like, but we can fufill all your other requests. We currently have 2 girls and 2 guys in our room, all are 20 or younger (I am female, 19.) You may need to sleep on the floor, we haven't really discussed sleeping arangements yet. We will be staying late at the raves, as well, so if you wanted to walk back in a group, we would be cool with that. We'd also be fine with your boyfriend coming in and hanging. None of us smoke or anything, drink or do anything illegal. We don't want to get in trouble at the con! We are also a group of Soul Eater cosplayers, I cosplay Maka, my brother is Soul, and my friend is Tsubaki! (We lost our Black Star) :(/> We would be looking at a price around $50 per person, total for the weekend (Might go up to $60). If you are interested, I can give you more details over email, fabiogirl49 AT hotmail.com. You can also check me out on facebook, http://www.facebook.com/#!/amelia.gear I've got out cosplay pictures there! :)
  11. Possible Wisconsinite Meet-up?

I'm in the Milwaukee area (and Kenosha, I go to school there!) and I'd totaly be interested in a casual meet-up. Additionally, I want to throw in a quick plug for KappaKon and Concinnity, two Milwaukee cons that have joined up this year. KappaKon is an anime convention, and Concinnity is sci-fi, steampunk, and gaming. Its super fun and cheap, 'cause its really small. Its on April 13, at MSOE, and registration is only $10, $5 if you're a student. Check it out on Facebook- the concinnitycon page!
  12. Looking for a room

I don't know if you are stil looking, I also have room for one more person. We are staying at the Intercontinental Chicago O'Hare, which is (so I've been told) less than 10 minutes walk from the Hyatt. We currently have 3 girls and 2 guys in our room, all are 20 or younger (I am female, 19.) You may need to sleep on the floor, we haven't really discussed sleeping arangements yet, but there will be (hopefully) no mixed-gender beds. IF you wanted to join us in walking to and from the con, that would be totally fine with me, and you could hang around with us, too. We're all nice people. The price is a little higher than the last poster, we would be looking at a price around $50 per person for both nights. If you are interested, I can give you more details over email, fabiogirl49 AT hotmail.com. This is not the only place I'm posting this, so the spot might go fast. (But wemight be willing to try and squeeze in one more person.)
