  1. Panel submission questions

Thanks gamergirl cqc. I hate that it's f'ing MS Word, but I exported to that format and submitted and it worked! —invalidname
  2. Panel submission questions

When I try to attach the outline to my panel submission, I keep getting the error: The file uploaded had an invalid extension. The file extension is ".txt"; it doesn't get any more plain than that. Any idea what I'm supposed to do here? Thanks in advance. —invalidname EDIT: This is with Safari on a Mac. I haven't tried starting over with another browser.
  3. âge (Muv-Luv, Schwarzesmarken, Rumbling Hearts)

Cool, see you there. The Muv-Luv panel is Friday night at 11:30-12:30, the cosplay gathering is Saturday morning at 11-11:30.
  4. âge (Muv-Luv, Schwarzesmarken, Rumbling Hearts)

Also, a Muv-Luv panel has been approved, so watch for it on the schedule. I'll probably be cosplaying that too.
  5. How will badge discounts work this year?

Now that I'm approved, I need to add the final set of co-panelists, but the entries in the panel service center are no longer editable. Hopefully they'll let us know how to do that soon.
  6. We kicked off a topic over on the Muv-Luv forums and it looks like we've already got a nice group forming for a cosplay gathering from âge visual novels and anime (Muv-Luv, Schwarzesmarken, and Rumbling Hearts). I'm planning on doing two of those again this year (Muv-Luv Alternative UN officer, and crossplay Mitsuki from RH). Anyone else planning to share the Luv? Kind of hoping we get at least one BETA. —invalidname
  7. Abstract Center not working properly

I haven't received any email updates, but I was able to finally get back in and edit my panel… and figuring it was a rare moment of the system actually working, I went ahead and submitted it. Fingers crossed!
  8. Minami Kuribayashi

For a musical guest, I'd like to nominate Minami Kuribayashi. A look at her wikipedia page shows a long list of OP and ED themes she's performed for well-known anime, including The Devil Is A Part-Timer!, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei, Infinite Stratos, Chrono Crusade, and Katanamonogatari. That said, she's probably best known for her association with the Rumbling Hearts and Muv-Luv series, for which she sang the main VN themes (OP and ED), new themes for console versions, and voiced the characters of Haruka and Kasumi. With last year's record-breaking Muv-Luv Kickstarter, there will be greater interest and awareness in that franchise than ever before. On top of that, she was in the news this year for acknowledging having a child, which would be normal for any other 39-year-old, but some in the Japanese music industry have a problem with the thought that performers are real people too. If US cons started bringing her over as a special guest, it might send a nice message that we're not as creepy about our idols.
  9. Abstract Center not working properly

At least you can log in. I tried logging in with the email and password that was sent to me and it doesn't work. Doing "forgot password" says that my email is not in their records. Suffice to say that Abstract Center is super broken. I emailed programming [at] ACen on Sunday to ask for help, but haven't heard back yet.
  10. ARCHIVE: Thanks to ACen

Just wanted to say thanks to Anime Central for giving me a spot on this year's panel schedule. I had a fun time putting my stuff together, and while turnout was small, I think attendees had a good time and learned fun new stuff. I also wanted to acknowledge that ACen really has their organizational act together. I keep hearing about 7-hour waits and insanely crowded hallways and rooms at cons like Anime Expo and Otakon and thinking "you people need to come to Chicago"
  11. What We Leave Behind

So this is different than the two-hour "Anime Tearjerkers" on Sunday morning? That's a relief, since now I can see yours! They scheduled my "Rumbling Hearts to Total Eclipse" panel against the second hour of that other one (although it's not much of an overlap: I'll be spending most of my time on Muv-Luv, and despite the title, Rumbling Hearts isn't much of a tear-jerker anyways, more like a gut-punch)
  12. ACEN 2015 Plans

This will be my fourth ACen… I was out of cons for a while after moving up from Atlanta (where I went to AWA) in 2008. Basically negotiated with the wife & kids that I get two days off from family each year to come over for ACen. Firsts for me: hosting a panel. "Rumbling Hearts to Total Eclipse: The Age of âge" is a brain-dump of all things Muv-Luv, which I discovered by working my way through the various sequels to Rumbling Hearts. It's a pretty amazing through-line from gloomy romantic drama to fluffy romantic comedy to dark-as-night mech warfare, and the behind-the-scenes story of why we have almost none of this franchise in the US is pretty much insane. My Keynote file for this panel is already 300 MB. Wanted to cosplay last year, but my order got lost and they emailed to tell me this while I was attending the anime musical panel at ACen. I ended up doing that character at JAFAX and Youmacon, so it's all good. Now I'm on pins and needles waiting for my commission to get done. So, if all goes well, I'll be doing two characters from my panel: a crossplay of Mitsuki from Rumbling Hearts one day, and Lt. Sandek from Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse the other day.
  13. The "Bandwagon" Cosplays

Oh! That would be me! Thanks for noticing. Or not. Either's fine! Of course, I'm doing a whole panel in hopes of dragging Muv-Luv (and the rest of âge, like Rumbling Hearts) out of obscurity.
  14. First time panelist with a stupid question

Does panelist badge pickup have its own line, or do we have to queue up with everyone else?
  15. Opinions on Cosplaying from Less-Popular Animes?

Last year at Youmacon (costume wasn't ready for ACen), I crossplayed as Mitsuki from Rumbling Hearts, and I really dug it when two vendors in the dealer room recognized her. I think that's the fun part of doing an obscure character: you're standing up for an anime that you don't want people to overlook or forget about. This year I'm going even more obscure, with Lt. Sandek from Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse.
