  1. Durarara 2013

I wanted to delete the post, but it won't let me. So I'll just leave this here
  2. K project?

  3. All righty, I've gone ahead and submitted my Durarara!! panel, which as been run at a number of conventions, but so far ACen isn't one of them. I was supposed to do it last year, but had to cancel attending the con altogether, so that didn't quite work out. Anywho, as someone who dislikes when panels just sit there and tell me things I already know from watching the anime, I developed this panel with the idea that it would introduce things a lot of people DON'T know. So instead of just talking about what's in the anime, I dig into the light novels and bring up facts about characters everyone should already be familiar with...that is, familiar with the characters, not familiar with the facts. I also introduce as many of the characters who didn't make it into the anime as possible, along with the character songs and the alternates and all sorts of good stuff. It's gone over quite well whenever I've run it so far. Here's hoping it gets approved!
  4. Guilty Pleasure Anime

We've all watched something we can't help loving even though we know it's not that great. Or even if we know it's absolutely terrible and not fit for anyone, ever. For those of you willing to admit it, this is the panel for you! We'll be discussing what qualifies something as a guilty pleasure, including outside examples, and we'll expect everyone to contribute what their own biggest guilty pleasure is. Unless your biggest guilty pleasure is Twilight or something. Because then we'll have to shun you. Also this is an anime panel, so telling us about your favorite guilty pleasure movie Bring It On doesn't really fit. Only one of those examples actually applies to a panelist here. I'll leave it to you to figure out which one.
  5. Bad Stories, Great Characters

I'm pleased to say I've received approval on my panel Bad Stories but Great Characters, which has a terrible name but hopefully great content. Ever watched an anime where the storyline was kind of (or incredibly) crappy, but you kept watching because the characters were just too awesome to give up on? So have we. Quite a few, in fact. We'll spend this panel discussing those series we feel fall into this category, with examples of our own and plenty of chances for audience participation to tell us which ones YOU think fit the bill. It'll be the first time running this one, and I'm quite looking forward to it. Hope to see you there!
  6. Sub or Dub anime

I usually watch subs, because I usually follow things as they're airing...plus, watching things subbed is great practice for me since I've been studying Japanese. There are a few dubs I enjoy though, like Ghost Hunt and FMA...and then of course there's dubs like Higurashi which should never be heard by anyone.
  7. which series have you re-watched the most?

Probably Ghost Hunt, because I used to use it as background noise. Got to the point that I can speak along with it. I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but I do love it.
  8. Approved and Denied Panels for 2013

I sent a PM to ask about the state of things and was told they'll be doing a mass approved/denied thing sometime this week.
  9. Approved and Denied Panels for 2013

On this front...I usually make about 50% of my stuff and then come to a halt until I know it's been approved, unless I know I'll also be running the panel at another convention. I do understand wanting to know if you're getting 50% off or a free badge, etc., but on that one...I tend to make my budgets for everything assuming I'll be spending the highest amount of money possible, and then if I end up spending less...yay extra money!
  10. Approved and Denied Panels for 2013

Guys, you don't have to worry about the pricing tiers. It's right in the panelist policy. #2 under the Panelist Badges section: So if you applied during the first tier of pricing, even if the panel is denied, you get to pay that price.
  11. Durarara 2013

My boyfriend and I basically always bring SOMETHING from Durarara!!...not sure yet what it'll be for ACen. I'm leaning toward Chikage (me) and Kadota (him).
  12. Natsume Yuujinchou

Maybe I'll see if my boyfriend wants to go ahead and do our Tanuma (me) and Natsume (him) this con...
  13. Panel Application Is Open!

For some reason on all of my panels, the system refuses to accept that my co-panelist's username is accurate (even when they're logged into it, so we know it's right). So I just left him off of the forms, so I could get my panels in. Should I just send an email after I find out if they've been accepted?
  14. Youmacon 2011!

This will be my second year at Youmacon! Pretty sure my significant other and I are going to be various forms of Shizuo and Izaya (Durarara!!) all weekend, and in theory we're running a few panels.
  15. Anime Blogging

At the time of ACen, I will have been blogging for seven months, at least in the anime scene. I was blogging for writing before that, and of course I've been involved in general Internet writing (the ongoing posting of a novel I wrote) for a good two years. While I may be new on the anime scene, I do know what I'm doing and have many of the more experienced bloggers telling me what a great job I've been doing. My goal with the panel is for people to come out of it confident that they can start and maintain a blog. Topics will include things like choosing a host, how you know what kind you should run (editorial vs. episodic vs. review, and so on), deciding how often you want to post, networking with other bloggers, and so on. Instead of using a PowerPoint the way a majority of panels do, I'll mostly focus on using my own blog as an example (even for what not to do, because some of my early stuff is fail-tastic). I'd use someone else's blog for what not to do, but I don't want to offend, even if I can definitely think of a few that I'm not a fun of. And of course, people will be able to question me on anything they aren't sure of and I'm perfectly accessible through my blog for follow-up.
