  1. Jessica Nigri

While I'd hate to add onto this while reiterating everything most others have said, I really don't believe she should be an invited guest. If she wants to attend the convention, that's fine. But, I don't like the thought of spending money to have her attend the convention, give autographs, and hold a panel or two. Those are things she could do on a regular convention trip, if she really wanted to. If I'm not mistaken, Yaya Han has attended on her own free will. Reiterating what most have said, I personally don't believe she's very inspirational cosplay wise. Sure, she's taking advantage of having a nice body, but her cosplays are almost all sexified versions of characters that are really unnecessary. For example, Samus Aran in a bunny suit? The outfit is skintight enough, and the adaption of a bunny suit is just...awkward. From what I've seen, her costumes aren't entirely accurate, either. All in all, I just believe that she or any other cosplayers should be something that the convention uses their budget for.
  2. Well, it has been quite the year for fans of the Persona series (With the release of Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Arena, and the falltime release of the English dub of the Persona 4 Animation.) so I think it would be a good year to invite some of the voice actors involved with the series. The voice actors of the main cast include: Johnny Yong Bosch: Also; Adam Park (Black Mighty Morphin Ranger), Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach), Lelouch Vi Britannia (Code Geass), Vash the Stampede (Trigun). Yuri Lowenthal: Also; Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto), Suzaku Kururugi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion), Simon (Gurren Lagann), Barnaby Brooks Jr. (Tiger & Bunny) Erin Fitzgerald: Also; Erica (Catherine), Parasoul (Skullgirls). Amanda Winn-Lee: Also; Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion). Troy Baker: Also; Schneizel el Britannia (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion), Greedling (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), Pain and Yamato (Naruto Shippuden), Excalibur (Soul Eater). Laura Bailey: Also; Tohru Honda (Fruits Basket), Lust (Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood), Maka Albarn (Soul Eater), Platinum the Trinity (BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger / BlazBlue: Continuum Shift), Catherine (Catherine). Sam Riegel: Also; Mephisto Pheles (Blue Exorcist), Shirou Emiya (Fate/Stay Night), Minoru Shiraishi (Lucky Star), Faust VIII (Shaman King), Phoenix Wright (Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3), Donatello (Multiple TMNT series) Mary Elizabeth McGlynn: Also; Cornelia li Britannia (Code Geass), Kurenai Yuhi (Naruto/Shippuden), Nina Williams (Tekken 5-6, Street Fighter vs Tekken). Obviously I'm not expecting every one of them, but I think they would be some good guests, especially since ACen hasn't seen many of them!
  3. Phoenix Wright 2013

I'll definitely be at the shoot this year. I'm planning to cosplay Maya Fey. Hopefully I'll find someone to be Phoenix with me. C:
  4. 2012 Gripes thread

I definitely agree with Lina on the line and guest issues! The exact same thing happened with me for Chris Sabat as well! He actually made the comment when I was up having him sign my wallscroll that this was one of the conventions at which he's signed the least autographs. However, when I went to see Eyeshine Saturday morning, that went rather smoothly. I didn't expect to get in very easy, but due to the short like they sent me right in. The only thing I can think of to fix this is to possibly give the guests more time. I understand this will be hard to work out but I don;t see how else this could be avoided. That, or just avoid having guest panels around the same times as their signings. Then, they'll be able to have more time to autograph and still be able to go to their panel.
  5. Late reply due to all the work on our Spring Musical and lack of computer time, but THANK YOU! Johnny Yong Bosch is one of the voice actors I've wanted to meet, because I missed my chance last time. I also have a very good friend who loves him as both a voice actor and a musician. I'm now even more excited to see what other guests get brought into the mix this year!
  6. The Suggestions for VA's in 2012

Well, hopefully the money will help. But let's just hope the guest relations aren't affected by the broken dome. I'm assuming they have to use some of the money raised this year to repair that. (People are such idiots. I hope whoever broke that realizes how they've screwed ACen over. -__-; ) SO MUCH YES
  7. Acen 2012 Cosplays!

A couple friends and I are gonna do 2 group cosplays. We're doing a Panty and Stocking group, and I'm cosplaying either Scanty or Kneesocks. (Depending on who my friends cosplays, Panty or Stocking.) We're also doing a Regular Show group, in which I'm doing Benson. C:
  8. The Suggestions for VA's in 2012

...You make a valid point....*strokes invisible mustache*
  9. Micah Solusod: Micah is newer to the anime industry, and I think It'd be pretty cool to get some newer faces to ACen. I've also seen a lot of Soul Eater fans every year. :D Chuck Huber: This man is pure WIN. He's done a lot of popular roles and I would personally like to meet him. I know one of the main reasons he could not attend this past year was due to the surgery he had in December. Maxey Whitehead: Another newer face to the industry. Since she's the new voice for Alphonse Elric, she'd probably be a pretty big hit. Christopher Sabat: Do I even need a reason? C: Sonny Strait: I think Sonny'd be a new face to ACen. He's really well known as Krillin and Usopp. He also has some pretty awesome artwork. Kyle Herbert: Kamina, you guys. Kamina. XD Caitlin Glass: I'd really like to meet her. I've heard that she's extremely social with the fans, which I'd love to see! :D
  10. Acen 2012

I agree. One of my bros is thinking of making ACen 2012 his first ever con, and this would be GREAT for him. He's been folowwing Johnny Yong Bosch for long time. C: YES
  11. Suggestions for ACen 2012

The only gripe I have this year is Guests and Guest lines. Even though I liked the thought of having it in the exhibit hall, the line was held in between two vendors, and it was very bad placement. Also, I think the times for the lines to start needs to be listed, instead of the actual autograph time. Either that, or start the line at the actual listed time. Saturday I went to see J. Micheal Tatum about 30 minutes before the signing, and they said the line was closed off. I was lucky enough to make it to the Colleen and Cristina autograph line in time. But, Sunday I was almost denied of the J. Micheal Tatum line again. I was there almost an hour before it started! I know that there can only be a certain amount of time for the guests to sign, but maybe that time could be extended? There were a lot of attendees that weren't able to see any of the guests they wanted to. Other than that, I have no complaints. Pumped for 2012 already! :D
  12. Rude anime fans

Ahh, that first example. It's become less and less now, but back in Middle School, I was ALWAYS asked "Is that a porn?" whenever I had any kind of manga. I had a kid trying to tell me that Naruto was a porn. I did know that hentai existed, and I always assumed that what he was referring to. On another note, the fans that think if you dont watch *insert anime here* then you're not a true anime fan. Another story: I have a good friend of mine who was never able to get into Hetalia. I was perfectly fine with this, because I've never been a fan of some of the shows she likes. But, there was another friend of hers online that told her, "If you don't like Hetalia, then you're not a true anime fan."
  13. Rude anime fans

So, don't we all hate the encounters with the anime fans that make you ashamed to be an anime fan? I know I've had this plenty of times, so let's tell the most recent story. A few weeks ago, My brother, our friend Dustin, and I all took a trip to the mall to be geeks. One of the stores we went to was FYE so we could see what anime they had. While we were back there checking out all the DVD's, some 25-looking year old man wandered back to look at the anime as well. I was talking to Dustin, and I said something along the lines of, "I wish anime wasnt so expensive, I can almost never afford it!" And this guy responds, "Well, why don't you get a job?" My general reaction was just to raise an eyebrow, and I almost said, "Well, that could be because I'm 15 and as hard as I try to find a job, I'm too young." That itself wasn't so bad. But Dustin is a huge Bleach fan. At one point, he made the comment, "If I were a millionare, I'd buy the entire Bleach series. :3." I laughed, but the guy looked at us. "Even the filler episodes?" My friends Dustin gave him a puzzled look and responded with, "Yeah...it's still Bleach..." and UNDER HIS BREATH this guy responds with, "...Just go kill yourself..." He left a few minutes afterward, but Dustin was STEAMED. I couldn't believe that anyone would have the nerve to say that! So, what are your stories of the obnoxious, rude, or downright creepy anime fans you've met? Feel free to share the rage here.
  14. Some wig help please?

I believe Hello Cosplay was one of the websites I had looked at before. This is probably my best bet for prices. C:
  15. Some wig help please?

So, it's my first year dealing with wigs, and it's 38 days to ACen. I really need to get them ordered, and I'm a little short on money. Are there any websites that people can suggest that sell cheaper wigs? Or a website with quicker shipping? It would be very appriciated! (Also, if anyone has any tips for wig dying, I would love to know! I have to dye a wig 3 colors and I need a good technique. >_> )
