It would be cool if MAPS could / would organize something like this.
The first qualification of a general-in-chief is a cool head; that is, a head which receives just impressions, and estimates things and objects at their real value.  He must not allow himself to be elated by good news or depressed by bad.  The impressions he receives, either successively or simultaneously in the course of the day, should be so classed as to take up only the exact place in his mind they deserve to occupy... - Emperor Napoleon I

See in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend, those with loaded guns and those who dig. -The Good

...but you know the pity is when I'm paid I always follow my job through... -The Bad

When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk. -The Ugly

Seems like it would be fun.
But we all know how the winter likes to be for everyone. :happydance:

I've often thought about a winter event, and really wondered if there would even be interest?

It be nice to see winter meetups revived. I remeber back when I started going to ACen, there was a Xmas/New Years meetup that various people organized. While they normally were the same thing as the summer meets (wandering around Chicago in cosplay), we had tons of fun.

Ice Skating in cosplay & the yaoi paddle group while waiting for the zamboni (or whatever it's called) will always be part of my winter memories that I look back on.

Sadly won't be attending ACen 2012. So I'll be taking my cosplay up a notch for 2013.

I have seen other anime conventions(Nan Desu Kon) pull this off with spectacular style.

However, it would need to be organized now, not left to the last minute.

Things to be decided for it would include:
-Food service: Yes or no. Obviously limtied to small snack/hor d'vourves.
-Beverages: Soda/water only? Free or cash 'bar'?
-Location: Try to have it at the Hyatt? A different hotel?
-Cost: free, or charge a small amount at the door to help cover cost of DJ and space? Sell tickets to limit attendance?
-Dress: Anything goes or business casual/formal/cosplay?

Sounds great!
