I got my badge today in the mail, yay!!
But as I was taking out my badge and letter, by badge stuck to the adhesive on the envelope.
I tried to remove it gently, but it ripped. :[

Is that really an important code? I dont have a smart phone or anything that can read QR so i couldn't test it. I would think it just takes you to the ACEN home page though? could be wrong.

You will need to get it fixed if it is destroyed in any fashion. You can do that at con in Registration. If you want to fix it before con email registration with your info, you will most likely need to mail the badge back before you get a replacement.

Hi Nina x Aries,

If you go to either the Service Desk in the Registration Hall or the Liberty Room of the Hyatt, Registration staff will print out a new badge label for you.

Glad the matter is resolved, but I'm curious to what the purpose of the code is. Will we be scanned as we enter places?

I'm wondering if we'll be stuck in big lines while we're all scanned or something.

Hi meef,

Badges will not be scanned as you enter places. The QR code is a way for specific staffers to be able to look up your contact information (in case you were to lose your badge) or your emergency contact information. It is not accessible by other attendees and only certain staffers are able to access this information.

As one of the supervisors in EMRT, I would like to note that the QR code was helpful in 3 instances that I was directly involved with.

1 & 2) Medical Emergencies
3) a child who became disconnected from parents.

It allowed us with the privileges to access the data to get in contact with family or emergency contact when the person was unconscious or didn't know the number. This was an excellent system. So with these 2 main reasons above make sure that the information you put into the system is correct when you register.

I was curious if the QR code was used to some effect during weekend. Nice to see it helped in some cases.
