Hi, folks-

DC here again. Proud to announce Carpe DM: Gamemastery for Tabletop RPGs is back for its fourth straight year.

I'll be covering the usual topics - the value of preparation, the importance of rules, and gamemaster tactics- but this year they allowed me two hours, so I'll be devoting more time to a topic that seems to be a favorite: The Trouble with Gamers.

I hope to see you there.

I'd love to go. We Gm's should be banned from meeting as it never ends well for the gamers.

But of course! It's sort of why the panel exists.

9 AM on a Sunday though.

I don't know if I'll be attending this panel. I think I went last year and I love the idea and the concept, but there was a lot of off-track input from some pretty crazy people (not good crazy). I think there was discussion about a bag of infinite dead hookers. If that was this panel, you're a great host and I'm really hoping to get through this one...but if there's the same caliber of participation as last year, I'd rather eat glass.

I would totally go if there were a bag of infinite dead hookers. That makes things interesting.

Huh, yeah I can see how that'd be upsetting. I honestly don't remember that topic, but I don't blame you for being offended. I try to keep things to a PG-13 level, especially as kids sometimes attend, but it's hard to control the subject matter when the floor is opened for questions and discussion. I certainly try not to encourage such topics.

Nevertheless, I appreciate the kind words and understand if you don't feel comfortable in such a situation. If ever you should want to discuss GMing or RPing in general, feel free to PM me, or swing on by Artists' Alley. I make comics (some of them based off my RPG adventures) and love talking to folks. Panda Rage Productions, AKA Onward Bound (the title of the comic).

So this is a panel... not so much a TTG event?

It's a panel, aimed at gamers in general, gamemasters in specific.

I cover mostly topics such as how to develop storytelling skills, the importance of preparation, the role of rules, and a topic I like to dub Cheap Theatrics.

They've given me about 30 extra minutes this year, and I reckon I'm going to slide in extra category on The Trouble With Gamers.

Fourth year running. Folks seem to enjoy it.

I think you posted this thread in the wrong forum... It should be in the Panel Programming section found HERE

Well, I chose to post it here as it seemed likely that gamers might be interested in a panel related specifically to RPGs as I wasn't sure how many we have of those this year.

I reckoned worst case scenario a mod would move it. Since it's been a month since the original posting I gathered I might be in the clear.

I figure no harm posting notice about a panel about gaming in the gaming forum. Or am I wrong, mods?

Just trying to keep an organized forum. Don't need a mod bar under my name to do my job.

Oh, sorry- didn't realize you were ACen Staff. No disrespect intended. Feel free to have this entire thing moved if you feel it'll serve things better.

A panel that actually makes my heart skip a beat. A shame I'll likely be participating in other duties. It's quite a shame I haven't learned the Shadow Clone Technique yet. -_-
