Or bring your own setup, of course! DJing these days has a dizzying array of technology and techniques so there is no way we could predict for everything. Besides, some enterprising DJs have completely Jerry rigged their sets to be so specific that anyone else trying to use them would be at a total loss.

I for one am looking forward to seeing some killer performances, let's see what ya'll got!

ok here's another piece to the audition that i wanna see: Please bring some of your music on either CD or vinyl format. i wanna see that you guys can spin on decks and a mixer only, because honestly computers can crash or break down. This way i know you guys can spin old school and without the aid of computers.

Couple things.

Are the dates basically "if you can't make one, make the other"? Or do you need to go to both?

Also, you might want to reconsider the date of the first one, as that coincides with the Deadmau5 concert in Chicago. Just a thought.

As for the last thing you posted, I'll be completely honest: I don't own any vinyls, and I can't afford cdj's, so I have little to no experience with both. And as all dj's know: it can be very difficult to just hop onto a setup you're not familiar with and go at it. Will this be held against me in the final judging? I understand your point completely, but just because I don't know/have access to those methods of media doesn't mean I can't lay down a sinister set. Just curious.

you just need to come to one of the dates.

as for the second part of the i know a few guys are gonna be upset by that stipulation, but honestly i wanna know that you guys can actually spin with out the aid of computers, cuz now a days there are so many programs that basically mix for you and people don't have to learn the actual basic's that make a DJ a DJ. its not just about music selection its about style and skill. also just as i said things happen not often but they can i wanna make sure that if a problem arise's at the show that people can still spin there sets and not back out because of a computer issues.

i hope you can understand that, i'm not trying to exclude anyone, but i wanna have the best DJ's i can get. i'm very picky about who i allow to spin at acen i try to bring the best DJ's that i can find and that fit in with all the other resident DJ's i currently work with and i know will put on a damn good show.

Change of plans? New dates?
I think this means you also got tickets to Deadmau5, dunnit?

Anyway, about spinning with something a bit more analogue: CDJs are all very similar with the only important quirks being the sensitivity of the pitch fader and jog dial. We provide CDJs every year as well as a couple of turntables (I'll be bringing my own this year as well as Khek's)so all you really need to do is burn a bunch of your music to disc and bring it with! Don't forget that the CDJs are a BACKUP for your normal setup and you are not expected to spin an earth-shattering set on them, just show that you could spin a real set on them if it came down to it.

Also, NEVER think that you are only as good as your equipment. Example: My favorite DJ of all time, Mark the 45 King http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

Well if you know your DJing well enough, then you can beatmatch. I personally have never worked with them so I'll need a bit of tutoring as to the whole... you know, track selection bit and the major details, I can figure the rest out by short and simple trial and error. My main issue will be finding a ride to and from. Chicago from my place is 6 hours one way. '>.>

if anyone who wants to spin soapbubble has any gigs coming up please post the info up here so i and some of the other judges can come out and see you guys spin live. this will probably be a bit better then having you guys come and audition.

I'll be opening the saturday night rave at NerdPow! October 28-30 in Columbus, OH. I know the gig isn't exactly local, but Jeff is actually djing for the friday night rave as well, so if you want, maybe you can tag a ride with him down for the weekend.

There's more information on the weekend at http://www.nerdpow.com.

so if a rig is required than I will have to withdraw from the auditions for I am still currently saving up for one
Every story has two tails the one that is spoken and the one that is received and interpreted accordingly for even tho they share a common origin they do not necessary meet at the same end.

I can get you (and whatever other couple staff members you bring) in for free no problem. Hank won't care since he wants me to spin anyways. Been getting lots of support on the ACen Facebook page.
