I'm doing some more research for various projects so I have some poll questions:
Question one: How do you watch anime. Which methods do you use to watch anime on a regular bases, if you steam a show once a year you wouldn't mark that.

question two: How closely do you fallow the current ongoing series.
--> Always: you watch shows every season with in a week or two of its Japanese air date.
--> Frequently: you watch shows every season but not always when they air
--> Some times: you watch some shows but not every season
--> Never: you do not watch any ongoing programs
fallow up question: has the industries move to legal streaming changed your viewing hobbits, please post answer.

Question Three: Classifications of anime by audience that you watch. What series do you regularly watch based on age and gender classifications.
fallow up question: Are these classifications accurate to you, please post answer.

Question Four: What theme elements of shows do you watch. Fairly self explanatory question

Thanks for all the help.

1- I usually watch anime online or borrow a friends box set. If I have the series, I watch it on DVD.

2---> Some times: you watch some shows but not every season
I used to follow series closely, but with work and everything it gets in the way.

*follow up question: Not really.

3- I don't have a series I am currently following =( but the ones I did follow, the classifications were somewhat similar.
*follow up question: I think so.

4- I stick more to action/adventure series. Mostly Shounen series, with some Shoujo sprinkled in.

Follow up #2
The industry's move to stream has changed my habits. I use more outlets like Crunchy Roll and Veoh to watch it.

Follow up #3
I voted Sienen and Shounen. It's a very accurate way to describe my viewing habits. Darker than Black and Durarara have been my latest favorites.

Some of my votes are guesses, mainly with genres and stuff... because I don't have much of a preference with watching anime... xDD I like to try various stuff. Idk.
I tried changing my avatar and it said I needed permission? I've never had that problem before and I've been on this forum for many years, so what gives?

Question one: How do you watch anime. Which methods do you use to watch anime on a regular bases, if you steam a show once a year you wouldn't mark that.

DVD pretty much only, unless one miraculously makes it to broadcast TV.

question two: How closely do you fallow the current ongoing series.

Don't, unless as above (on TV) (Never: you do not watch any ongoing program

Follow up: Not with dial-up...

Question Three: Classifications of anime by audience that you watch. What series do you regularly watch based on age and gender classifications.

Mostly teen/young adult. (last batch of DVDs purchased included Comic Party, Get Backers, Cyberteam in Akihabara, Full Metal Panic?, Nadia Secret of the Blue Water.)

fallow up question: Are these classifications accurate to you, please post answer.

Not sure what you mean.

Question Four: What theme elements of shows do you watch. Fairly self explanatory question

See examples above. Comedy, romantic comedy, "magical girl," some "action/adventure".

How do I watch...

Usually a 23" computer screen with headphones (crunchyroll, funimation video site, etc). It's really convenient and the general quality is good enough for me.

However, I've been meaning to watch a few of my old DVDs. :highfive:

1. I mainly watch Anime on DVD/VHS. Although I'll watch a few episodes of new shows I'm interested in watching online either through distributor websites like Funimation.com or on sites like youtube to figure out whether or not the show as as appealing as I first though and if I'd be interested in buying the dvds when they come out.

2.Kinda of a mix of frequently and never since there are some shows I'm watching that have had new episodes come out within the last couple of months while at the same time I'm watching some shows that have been off air for more than a few years.
2a: No not really.Since it's been just switching from one site to another.

3/4: I watch what depending on my mood, tastes of the moment, and what has come out new/what is still on my stack of to be viewed shows.

I'm not familiar with all of those anime classifications, but they seem accurate. I usually watch anime on DVD, and mainly sci-fi and fantasy. I don't care about age classification when I watch anime, since I'm mostly interested in the story and quality of animation (although I rarely watch hentai). Since I usually watch DVDs, I don't follow anime as it airs in Japan. Good luck with your research!

I'm not very picky with my anime but at the same time I really am... I like things across a broad spectrum but I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Romance anime, especially if it has drama in it ( and sometimes Romance Comedies work... ).

I guess the one type I really don't like usually is Mecha series, I do like Full Metal Panic but that's more about the characters and I like Robotech and a few of the Gundam series, but none of the one's that are heavy into "OMG THAT MECHA IS AWESOME!" types...

I usually give new series a few episodes to catch my interest, if it fails I drop it and move onto the next one, and so on and so forth. So far this season nothing has really jumped out at me begging for my attention ( then again I've been too busy to get passed episode 1 on a bunch of these series ).

I love lots of anime that predates 2001, when they started being predominantly made with CG. Lodoss, Slayers, Blue Seed, Project A-ko, 3x3 Eyes, Cardcaptor Sakura... all series that make me giggle like a fangirl.

I watch everything on my Computer mostly with Dvd's or downloads depending on what it is, or I use the big screen tv when it needs that touch of awesome in the basement.

1. I watch anime on Blu-ray, normal DVDs and AVI/MP4/OGG.

2. I sometimes follow ongoing series..usually wait for dubs or something, then see if I'm going to watch sub or dub.

3. I watch Josei, Seinen and Shounen mostly.

4. I like Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Romance and adventure. ^_^

Good luck with your research projects!!! :D Do you mind if I ask what they are for? Like school or something? ^^;

I am doing this for a couple reasons; one is to increase my general knowledge of anime trends. I do run a couple of industry related panels at a few different cons and I try to stay up on the changes. I am not planning on running one at Acen do to a convention job change that will leave me with far less time. Which leads me to reason two I am doing guest Acquisitions for 2010 and we do try and keep a pulse on what would be of the most interest to fans besides individuals by name.

Oh, I voted wrong. Technically, I follow some anime. Usually I just find a completed series and watch it through.

1) I typically watch anime on DVD, but am increasingly watching it online, with the percentage probably moving towards 50/50
2) It depends. If it's something that's in the process of being being released, I try to follow as closely as possible. But then again I watch a lot of the same stuff that's been around for years. (follow up - I definitely watch more because of streaming, who has the money to shell out for a box set of a show they might not like?)
3) My friends joke that I only watching shoujo anime... (I don't really know how to answer the follow up. I suppose the classifications don't generally fit. I seem to watch more anime aimed at teenage females than at 21 year old males?)
4) It's all about the humor.
I will be was an absolutely enchanting totally ordinary Persona 4 protagonist gas station attendant.
