My dad's owned a Weber-style grill for as long as I can remember. (I'm pretty sure he owned it back when the Dead Sea Scrolls were being written.) That sucker, however, is the source of my fondest memories of his BBQ chicken. I don't think he's used it in years - last I saw it was rusting quite a bit on the lid. But I remember the charcoal-briquette grilling giving the chicken a much better taste.
That said, I do like his propane grill-cooking. Especially ever since he learned his lesson back when I was in my teens. Good ol' Pops decided it would be much faster to put an entire pack of chicken and an entire pack of pork chops on the propane grill...all at the same time. Next thing you know, I'm looking out the back door and seeing nothing but orange in the little grill window.
Me: You should probably check the grill now.
Me: I think the food's on fire.
Yeah...there was nothing left except what could easily have replaced the bottoms of my shoes. From that point forward, Dad has taken his time with the grilling...with much more favorable results. ^^
