It's being someone who appreciates the visible and audible (non-electronically-obscured) reactions of his or her teammates. You get an experience out of local co-op/ LAN games that you just can't get with people online even if they are your life-long RL friends. Earth Defense Force 2017 is also notable for being incredibly fun with local co-op despite the lack of online play. Please don't tell me that you don't have any local friends...? :( I swear, newfangled kids expecting every game to have online co-op...

I do apologize for expecting to have something that is so common now-a-days in games and then being disappointed in their absence.

It just means you've been spoiled, is all. God forbid a game that's old-school in every facet of its presentation lack online play.

Entirely possible. I would just have found online co-op to be more convinient is all.

It would have been nice, but I wouldn't shun a game just because it lacks online co-op.

Then again, I have a few local buds that I can play it with.

The game is out!...Do I need to force my roommate to buy it for me on his PS3 so that I can hear what it's like? Seriously here! :P

Best I'm getting thus far is watching three fellows swear whilst they geek out with me. Pretty much. ;)

The lack of online co-op is certainly disappointing. I know they were going for an old school feel to the game, but it seems like its a feature that still should be in there. Its not that I don't have some people I can play it with locally, but I know I have people I can play it with via online co-op. Other than that, will probably wait on the 360 version as I have 4 controllers for the 360 and only 2 for the PS3. I did play the PS3 demo and it is a fun, old-school type game which I appreciate. There seems to be some depth to it as well, though it was hard to tell a lot in the demo.

The game is fun, and a throw back to games like "Streets of Rage." The lack of online co-op is disappointing. It also bothers me that your friends can't drop in on the middle of a level and join in, they need to start with you otherwise they have to wait. Other than that though, I don't have any gripes about the game. The awesome soundtrack is worth the $10 for the title.

Just bought it for the 360 but still haven't played it yet.
Is a online-multiplayer patch a future possibility?
Sadly, I have no friends :)

i sure hope so!
honestly, it probably depends on how well it sells.
i think ubisoft very casually mentioned possible future patches.

I'm trying to save up a few bucks to buy 1600 Microsoft points; I've wanted the Fable II theme for quite some time now anyways. I played the demo a bunch of times, purposely dying right before fighting Matthew Patel so I can keep leveling up. One thing I really liked about it is when you start entering the city, the music changes with guitars and such.
Mighta been a time when I loved her too but you take that away, you always been the one.

That was the original? I'm so glad they ditched that design for the more awesome one.

Ubisoft needs to port this for PC and add multiplayer AND put it on Steam. I'd buy this in a heartbeat (even though it might have Ubisoft's DRM attached to it)

I was at my friends house a few nights ago and after a rousing game of pool on his new table I asked him to show me the gameplay.

He described it as River City Ransom sans the YOB YOB YOB when you purchase food and eat it. Except RCR doesnt have four person co-op or a level system. Still seems like some fun and I can always take my card over to his place if I ever want to play it.

The IGN video review gives the game flying colors, save stating the fact of no online play. The no online play thing I can deal with, because I dig playing with other people in person. Safe the one time a controller was thrown into my mouth, some of the better memories I have come from such moments. But if no other play option possible? Hmmm...

Still haven't pestered my roommate about getting this yet. And still haven't gotten the music album...really should. :D

DLC content releasing next month with the dvd:

-knives unlockable and playable.

-new fighting game tournament mode(weapons usable)

-dodgeball mode.

-drop-in-drop-out co-op option (FINALLY!)

-no online still, and probably ever.

-average joe will now be more forgivable to n00bs and people who generally are getting crushed in the game.

Game is pretty easy, even on Hard. Just don't play Hard until you completely max out your stats.
When first starting off don't bother buying anything from Wallace's Mystery Shop or paying off your late rental fees (just yet!).

Just replay the first stage enough times to get enough money to max out strength and speed.
By then you'll probably reach level 16 and unlock all (but one) special moves. But your stats are still zero.
Now go to Shock Wave Record (level 1) and keep buying "Smashing Turnips" until your strength maxes out to 100.
Then keep buying "Crash And The Boys" until your speed maxes out to 100.

You now should be golden until you reach level 6 and the Mobile's Secret House.
It is secretly located between two trees where people are hanging out and nega-Scott pops out laughing (just right of the house in the background).
Keeping buying the "Sautéed Shiitake" until BOTH your defense and willpower reach 100.
Also buy the "Special Training" to unlock the last special move.

Now you are have all the special moves and all stats maxed to 100!!!
Go and get that Hard achievement/trophy.
You can even use the Power of Love code.
Press X X X A B A Y Y at the "Press Start" screen.
You'll start each level with the Power of Love sword.
Any codes used in this game WILL NOT hamper you in getting any achievements/trophies.

If you want to max out another character you can just use the "second profile glitch" to give all your money to them.
You can now pay off your late dues at No Account Video (level 1) and keep buying the "Seven Shaolin Masters" to max out ALL stats.
Then keep buying "Alone and Disturbed" to max out to level 16. It saves you the wait of leveling up manually and going to Mobil's Secret House (still need the secret move from there, though).
