I'm willing to post them around some gaming and book stores by my house! :3 I really wanna help! :3 I told someone who's going to OhayoCon about ACen and how awesome it is and he's planning on coming so I'm excited! :3

To answer your questions:

- I found out about ACen on a wesbite in '03 I believe
- I read Shojo Beat, a little bit of Animerica and I used to be really into Shonen Jump, I kinda read that now. Um, I don't actually read Ribon since it's in Japanese, but I look through it! :3
- I shop usually at Best Buy or Suncoast or FYE, sometimes I'll shop on ebay

To answer your questions..

-how did you hear of acen?
A friend, then as acen neared i saw advertisements in various places.
-what anime mags do you read
Yen+, Shounen jump, Anime Insider,
-where do you guys normal shop from for anime, anything online?
FYE and Best Buy.

I already advertise among people i know. but I'll ask if the anime club person at the library if she wants to advertise ACen at all. then the woodman's has a bulleting board to post advertisements at..

1. Heard of Acen through a friend
2. I read anime insider & wizard world... but the second doesn't really have too much anime. only randomly really
3. I go to Borders to sit and read in their manga section. Otherwise, I get videos mainly online unless there's a sale at like FYE, Best Buy, or any other electronic store. Borders mainly though. You could put up signs in book stores that have mangas.

Well hello there. Might as well contribute right?

1. How did you hear of Acen?
Well to be honest, my memory on this is a bit vague. If memory serves me, my first acen was Acen 4 back in good ole Arlington Park. On how I heard about it, I think it was mostly from various webpages (many of which are long gone) and my determination to finally go to one (an anime con).

2. What magazines do I read?
Hmm, quite a few..many of which are gaming mags: EGM, Game Informer, PLAY, PC Gamer, Anime Insider, Animerica, Otaku USA, Protoculture Addicts to name a half dozen. Also online sites such as Anime Nes Network, Mania.com (formerly animeondvd.com), IGN.com, Gamespot.com

3. Where so I buy anime stuffs to bury myself with?
Various online and B&M locations: B&M = Best Buy, Walmart and on the rare occassion, FYE. Online = DeepDiscount, Amazon, Buy.com, Rightstuf.com

4. Help promote ACEN?
Sure, why not. There are quite a few places that can be accessed around my area (Central Ohio). Make sure to get some flyers ready for OhayoCon.

Well, Smiles and Berg brought up the little Acen cards when they were up here this past weekend, (or was it the weekend before) but its the ones with the mascots and date on them?

I passed em out to my friends.

One of them even offered me ten bucks for the batch :o

1. How did I hear about ACen?
-- Friends and advertisements at ACon (no longer exists, and no I don't mean A-Kon ~ this used to be Austin's anime convention way back in the day)

2. What anime magazines do I read?
-- Sadly, none. I'm just not that into magazines. I will on occasion pick up a Gothic Lolita Bible or Fruits when I can find them.

3. Where did I get my chest full of anime booty?
-- Anime/Comic shops in Milwaukee/Racine, Austin, Boston, Phoenix, Houston, etc. I tend to camp out at book stores and read, when I'm a bit too broke to buy. Random websites and Amazon. I get my cosplay fix on DeviantArt and Cosplay(.com) or just sew it myself.

4. Promote ACen?
-- Sure.. I can toss up a few flyers around my dorm and campus. There is an anime community here, but I doubt many of them have the resources to cross state lines to come to ACen. I am willing to try though!

If someone were to make a promo flyer for Acen to be passed out at say a High School Anime Club I know I'd put one up at the club I'm running.

I heard about Acen in anime magazines like "Animerica" when they were still alive and "word of mouth" from my friends first time i ever heard about acen was... about 5 or 6 years ago.
I love reading Newtype the most even though its a tad pricey being $10 an issue.
Ebay is pretty much my favorite place to find all my anime goodies =). There's also the bookstore in Mitsuwa too.
I think if anyone has a school with bulletin boards they can freely post stuff on they should advertise Acen there.

lol ok i put in my 2 cents :P

1. (How did I hear of ACen)
I searched for something close to me on upcomingcons.com. I found others that were nearby, but their websites looked seedy. Not sure if that's the word I'm really looking for, but ACen's website really draws you in and it looks like the coordinators care about marketing.

2. (What magazines do I read?)
None. I get my game & anime news from XBOX live or from friends.

3. (Where do I buy anime?)
Best Buy, FYE, local comic & card shop

4. (Would I help promote ACen?)
Absolutely!

If Production could come up with a flyer that could be photocopied and come out looking good that would be nice. The current Acen 13/2010 looks spiffy, but that full edge bleed, screening, and bit of color come out pretty muddy on a copier and then you need to trim. Do something can be printed 4-up for example to save copy costs. The ACen 13 "theme" could be pulled off relatively well in B&W.

I know all sorts of nooks and crannies where small ads can be left/posted/etc.

(I have only found the one .pdf for the flyer on the ACEN webpage.)
This space intentionally left blank.

What happened in here?

Maybe you could hold a contest for the artistic forum-goers to come up with a flyer to promote ACen and give out a prize? That would be fun.

I first heard about Acen hmmm.. 12 years ago in a newspaper, I don't remember with one now. PLus I saw an add in Shonen Jump last year, though I do not buy Shonen Jump any more, but it is still popular, so keep'em in mind. Here's a list of magazines & sights that might help you.
1)Anime Insider
2)Otaku USA
3)Shojo Beat
4)Otaku Magazine
5)Animerica (yes they still exist, it is now free & quarterly in Borders & Waldens stores only)
6)Futre Anime
Some web sites that my help
1)Facebook
2)Gaia online
3)Maple Story
4) Myspace
5)Tinier Me
6)Sky_7
7)1Up
May I also suggest that you encourage venders to mention you on their web sites. I buy from companies such as Anime Nation who is often a vendor at your convention.

Currently writing a book.

Howdy,

I work for the press department, and we have a slew of videos and info we'd love to slather thick on the boards: letting the people know who we are, where we'll be, what we'll be doing to promote Acen, and how they can help! They can even be on TV!
I've been told my boss, the Press DH, will vouch for me on this, and I'd love to start getting the word out!

Howdy everybody!

Your neighborhood friendly "spoon-roller" here, letting you know that Anime Central's own press department (in conjunction with VBV ENTERTAINMENT and ANIME REACTIONS-TV) will be out and about starting Thursday night to get as much photo, audio, and video information on the con as we can! As the official press of the con, it's our job to create promotional, informational, and ENTERTAINING episodes and press packages. We're here to show everyone just how AWESOME Anime Central can be, so if you find us, talk to us...you just might wind up on TV or in an official Acen press package!

And here's a little something to wet your whistle for just one of our many Acen correspondents:

I made a 30 second commercial about ACen for my introductory Audio class, but it's not professionally done or anything, and I have a silly recorded voice lol
