Subject: Reactor Has Returned!

Friends,

After a year-long hiatus, Reactor has returned! Our next event will be held on September 18-20, 2009 at the Wyndham O'Hare in Rosemont, IL. The staff of Reactor and I have spent the past few months coming up with new panel ideas, programming, and events that we think you'll enjoy.

We've announced our first four guests for 2009 as well. The imminently quotable voice actor and anime personality Keith Burgess returns, as does Chicago area comic writer Russell Lissau. Steve Yun from Robotech.com will join us again, and Bryan Taylor will be back to discuss his work on Iron Man and Speed Racer, as well as his newest project. We have many more guest announcements coming. Check the-reactor.org often, as we will frequently update our guest page.

Our popular Reactor podcasts will return in November with a new co-host, the Emmy-award winning director Lisa Gonzalez.

For a limited time, we've also rolled back our registration prices. Through December 1, the cost of a regular pre-registration is only $20. Premium Members from Reactor 2007 will also receive a discounted membership price.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please contact me at jalsup@the-reactor.org, or stop by the forum. Someone will answer your question within 48 hours, guaranteed. I hope to see you this year!

Sincerely,

James L. Alsup III
Executive Director
Reactor

Yea...I've never heard of a convention taking a "break" for a year before. Hopefully doesn't hurt them too badly.

reactor is pretty nuts in my opinion

i think if you like to party you should definitely go, and if you think that cutting loose is not appropriate at an anime con, you should chill out and stay home

my opinion from attending i believe in 2005?

I've heard about it towards the beginning of '08 and found out it was cancelled. It seems like a small convention. Not sure if I'll go or not.
Mighta been a time when I loved her too but you take that away, you always been the one.

Atleast it isn't that "convention" that is going on in the summer, with that otaku with his massive ego naming it after himself. I'd rather go to Reactor than that one anyways.

Hence, why he put convention in parentheses. xD

I didn't direct it to any con here...no, I didn't directly say it was that "convention"

I may pull out a Repo! cosplay for this one as well, since it might be a one or two day deal only, considering how disappointing it's absence was LAST year. :P

I've heard only good things about soycon. Reactor really has quite a bad rep.
oh, and it's not very nice to say things like that about people you've never spoken to.
Not starting a discussion, just a thought.
I've heard ok at best things about reactor. I know an underage friend there whom had to explain a lot to her parents. I've heard it wasn't as much a con as much as it was " an experiment to see what a group of otaku can do to a hotel over a weekend". I've also heard that it just plain wasn't worth it.
I go to acen because it's the biggest and best con around. Hopefully I'll be able to head to some of these other conventions when I have the time and money to.
Basically, I don't think it's worth it to go this year.

I agree with you LinLin. I have not heard any good things about Rector. I heard that it is just a con for drunks and party people. \:

I heard they were changing it from a strict Anime con, to a Japanese and Pop Culture convention. Anyone else hear this?
