Just an idea. Sometimes folks aren't all ways having a good time at the con. So maybe we should pick out a spot, where if people go there, they can get big hugs (with permission, of course) to make them feel better.

If there weren't so many "Free Hugs" people wandering around at most cons I go to, this would be a novel idea. Seriously, they're everywhere. You can even get your pick of hygiene level.

Ok this kinda like screams "Pass The Swine Flu" . I only hug people who appear healty, haves good hygine, and can asure me they don't have Swine Flu! ^-^

Hugs? As long as you don't smell and don't attempt to kidnap me we are good ^^. If you feel sad or just need a pick me up come up to me and ask for a hug. I will most likely say yes

Well that's just silly. What if they have allergies and are just generally feeling crappy? We're coming up on allergy season, so a lot of people are going to look "like they have the swine flu" that may just be suffering because the flowers are in bloom. OR, they may just be dehydrated, exhausted, or any number of other things that would make them not look in tip-top shape.

Con plague goes around every year, and it's usually a cold or the like from people from many different places just interacting with each other, and you can't tell who you'll get it from based on whether or not they "look clean". You shouldn't be so paranoid.

Anyone else remember the skit in the masq about 2 years ago with the tentacle monster, where the girl said, "Your hugs feel like rape." Yeah, that's what I thought when I saw this thread...

It's the swine flu. There are just too many cases in IL with too many people with bad hygiene I guess.

I like this idea. The only thing that made me feel weird is when this 14-year-old male ninja asked me for a hug, and I got a gentle kiss on the cheek instead. I didn't make a big deal of it; I thought that maybe the boy was a huge Cid fan, and maybe he was a little bi-curious.

I motion for the hug spot but only as long as we forbid surprise kisses that lure adults into jail (without passing GO and collecting 200 gil).
