I was wondering what it was and just checked it ou, i didnt know there was a japanese based market out there. What is it like in there, we have never been to one like that. Plan to go next year too.

wildcat - you should try it. The thing with sushi is that they only use the VERY best in it or else you could get sick and sue em ... and then they would loose money (weather they win or loose). So you can be sure that you will not get sick while eating it and let your mother know as well

Well, it depends who you ask when it comes to fish. I'm not a huge seafood person, but I want to eat more sushi to explore the culture and I'm doing it slowly. It tastes okay to me, not my favorite but you can tell it's fish.

If your mother is still worried, you can have California Rolls, they just have rice, seaweed and veggitables in em, no fish. That way you can get an idea and perhaps some day she'll get more comfortable with it and explore eating the raw fish sushi

I want to try sushi, we have a few japanese restaurants here in michigan. Do you get to request they cook the fish a little? Because we have never had any raw before, she is kind of skeptic of trying it or even letting us try it and is afraid we might get sick. So i wanted to get other people's thoughts and opinions. Did any of you guys go eat at the places in the Mitsuwa? I saw some menus of what they had and hope to go there next year if we can find it

Well no matter what, we are going next year, Samantha wants to go and my mom loves seafood and chicken, i saw a couple of teryaki foods there too.

Yeah!! I wanted to cosplay someone and samantha did good on her Chopper plus she is redoing it and making more props so i asked her if she could do kero and she said yeah!! So i am going to Kero with maybe the bow or blue jacket he wears. I cant wait, i am sure someone will take a picture, i didnt see any Keros so Samantha will be happy. She is going to start is later this year to give me time to lose more weight

Actually the fish is slightly cooked, kinda like a rare steak, just enough to kill any germs that there might be.

actully about sushi about all of it is raw but the eel. i don't think u can it it raw.
i go to mitsuwa all the time they have reall gppd athentic japanese food and some korean
some fish have to be cooked in order for u to eat it or else its deadly, i believe. i'm not sure about eel tho all i know is i have had it at many places,including mitsuwa, and its been cooked

Yes Mitsuwa is the coolest! I found Excel Excel and Femme Fatale on Thurs and the three of us took the bus there and now I'm hooked...I've been like five times since and Wednesday I gotta go again cuz I ran out of rice crackers Still good on the pocky though Anyone who wants to go, I will gladly join ya, I'm addicted to that place (but I will not eat sushi...I don't really like fish, just crab, shrimp and lobster...so I had shrimp egg rolls )

I know what anime I'm cosplaying from next year, I'm gonna do Rukia from Bleach! So now I'm poring over the Bleach thread over at Cosplay.com (I'm doing that black outfit so I can carry a sword )

Theres a few good Japanese restaurants not too far from us. If you're looking to try something out, I'll throw you a couple suggestions. As for sushi, sushi is not raw fish. Sushi is actually the rice. Thats why you can have sushi that has no no seafood aspect to it. I started sushi with avacado rolls. Usually they're rice with a piece of avacado in the middle wrapped in seaweed. Good stuff.

As for Mitsuwa, I was very upset I never made it this year. The people I was supposed to go with ended up going with another group.
