So its that time where we need to start looking at the what the weather is going to be doing during the convention! Right now it looks like we are going to avoid rain that weekend ::knocks on wood:: - so that's good. Though it will be somewhat cloudy and a bit chilly.

Forecast (per www.accuweather.com):

Thursday - High 64° Low 41° - "Plenty of Clouds"
Friday - High 61° Low 46° - "Sunny"
Saturday - High 64° Low 51° - "Considerable Cloudiness"
Sunday - High 73° Low 56° - "Cloudy and warmer"

As long as it doesn't rain (*knocks on wood with you*) I'm happy. My cosplays will actually be fairly weather friendly in hot or cold this year, though I'd prefer it to be a little warmer. 70-80 is pretty perfect in my book. Maybe temperatures will be up a little...assuming we're not flooded first with all this rain lately =P

Crossing fingers that that forecast is accurate. My costumes are a tiny bit on the warm side and it's always nice to have it a little cooler when a lot of people and a LOT of body heat is going to be present.

Here's to hoping that is the case, but it is way too early to count on it. When we get to the weekend before, then I'll really take note of the forecast.

The temps have jumped up a bit for now (from http://www.accuweath...weather/2256000 )

Thursday - Increasing cloudiness - 70°/48°
Friday - Cloudy - 68°/50°
Saturday - Sunny - 72°/50°
Sunday - Cloudy - 63°/49°

I imagine it will still jump around quite a bit though since its still spring. About 3 days out is when we will have a really accurate forecast.

The maps from the NWS (http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/) are suggesting that its really going to warm up and then cool a bit, but their outlooks don't go out any farther than 14 days.

As we get a little closer, the weather starts to get in focus a little more.

As of now, it mirrors what KPK had initially posted. Generally cool (below normal) with a slight chance of showers on Saturday at this point. Wish it would be warmer but this won't be out of the ordinary.

I just hope that it's not raining on Saturday at 4 pm. I have to be at the Nintendo photoshoot and I really don't want people not knowing where to go for the rain location. =/ It's only a week until ACen, so I'm praying that the weather changes by then (the temps are totally fine with me though).

Just watching the news on WGN, and they are now saying the highs will only be in the high 50's. I'd rather have it cooler than hotter, so I'm not complaining!

Since I will be wearing thin cosplays I am hoping for at least mid 60s. I don't want to swelter but if it's too cold I'll be pretty uncomfortable.
Here's hoping the weather inches up a few more degrees.

Still better than ACen in April (2 years ago). I'm good with that forecast minus the rain.

Wind between 14-27mph, so make sure that your costumes are strapped on tightly so they don't get whipped around. "Mainly cloudy, showers around" Sunrise at 5:31am, sun is at the highest at 2:24pm, sunset at 8:05pm. Moonrise at 9:13pm, moon is at the highest at 9:59pm, moonset is at 7:12am.

Moonrise is at 10:12pm, moon is at its highest at 10:00pm, moonset is at 8:12am.
Saturday: High of 58 (feels like 63). Precipitation 55%. Low of 40 (feels like 40). Precipitation 9%. Thunderstorms 20%. Precipitation 0.05in, hours of precipitation: 1. Wind between 6-9mph, so it's only a small amount and similar to Friday. "Clouds and sun with a shower." Sunrise is at 5:29am, sun is at its highest at 2:38pm, and sunset is at 8:07pm. Moonrise is at 11:07pm, moon is at its highest at 10:10pm, moonset is at 9:17am.
Sunday: High of 66 (feels like 73). Precipitation 10%. Low of 44 (feels like 42). Precipitation 10%. Thunderstorms 2%. Precipitation 0 inches, hours of precipitation: 0. I don't know what websites any of you are using, but I use The Weather Channel. Not sure how accurate any sites are, to be honest, but that's the one I've been relying on. Why is it saying that there might be rain on other sites when there's only rain for Thursday and Friday on TWC? As long as it's 20% or less of a chance for rain on Saturday, then we're good.

I use accuweather.com - they are the national weather service. I never trust what they say on tv.

Each site tends to use a combination of their own weather stations, regional weather networks, and NWS data. Everyone tries to get an "edge" to have the best predictions which is why they turn out different sometimes. They also update at different rates (some are slower or faster).

I think Accuweather uses a combination of NWS data and their own weather station data, but they aren't the NWS proper. I was reading somewhere how you can "join" a network of their weather stations to contribute data.

I like using the NWS website the best, although Accuweather usually has decent long range forecasts.

I'm probably the only one wishing it was at least in the 70s or so. I'm really sick of the cold weather maybe it's because of all the snow this year, but I'm dying for some warm weather right about now.

From Tom Skilling's Forecast at WGN

Thursday, May 15

HIGH/LOW

54°/42°

Unseasonably cool! Temperatures continue at early to mid-April levels.

Cloudy, cool and breezy. Some sprinkles or light showers. Clouds may break at times late in the day. North to northwest winds initially 12 to 26 mph and gusty—easing 8 to 18 mph by nightfall. Widespread cloudiness Thursday night. Some sprinkles or light rain possible again late.

Friday, May 16

HIGH/LOW

56°/39°

Cloudy, sporadically sprinkly and, by May standards, chilly.

A few light showers possible. Northwest winds 6 to 17 mph. Clouds break at times Friday night.

Saturday, May 17

HIGH/LOW

62°/40°

Mixed sun then more clouds as daytime temps rise.

A few scattered light showers or sprinkles may flare in the late morning and afternoon. Peak readings remain below normal. Light/variable winds.

Sunday, May 18

HIGH/LOW

67°/43°

Temperatures continue a slow upward climb. Partly sunny with light southeast afternoon lake breezes 4 to 11 mph on area beaches and lakeshore locations.

Peak inland temperatures may approach 70 while beach and lakeshore readings hold to the low and mid 60s.

Monday, May 19

HIGH/LOW

72°/46°

Mostly sunny, still milder, particularly away from Lake Michigan, which continue under the influence of localized southeasterly lake breezes.

Beach and lakeshore highs are likely to remain in the 60s.
