Well apparently there is a big line storms heading through much of the US today...

Quote

WASHINGTON (AP) — A gigantic line of powerful thunderstorms could affect one in five Americans on Wednesday as it rumbles from Iowa to Maryland packing hail, lightning and tree-toppling winds.
Meteorologist are warning that the continuous line of storms may even spawn an unusual weather event called a derecho (duh-RAY'-choh), which is a massive storm of strong straight-line winds spanning at least 240 miles. Wednesday's storms are also likely to generate tornadoes and cause power outages that will be followed by oppressive heat, said Bill Bunting, operations chief at the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla.
The risk of severe weather in Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, is roughly 45 times higher than on a normal June day, Bunting said. Detroit, Baltimore, Washington, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Louisville, Ky., have a risk level 15 times more than normal. All told, the area the weather service considers to be under heightened risk of dangerous weather includes 64 million people in 10 states.

So if you happen to be affected by this storm and anything interesting of note happened, drop a note about it.

We have a flash flood watch in my area... not cool because Wednesday is my busiest day, and the storms are predicted to hit in the middle of the day around 1-2 PM. Great, so now I have to plan my day around a flash flood! :P

Last time we got hit really hard it took out our power for almost 72 hours. That was during the summer heat wave, and with out the a/c our third floor apartment got up to 95* F. I'm praying that it NEVER happens again, and also praying that we can get a house soon because apartments totally SUCK. :<

A derecho?!?!?!

I remember that a derecho hit Carbondale in May of 2009 right when I was at ACen. It really went to work on the town. Power and phone lines were down, huge trees were blocking roads, stop lights were out, and water was not working in some places.

For those living near where this thing is about to strike - this might be a good time to go on a vacation.

And of course my husband picks today to come home early and head out to get his motorcycle's tire changed - without his helmet, no less. I messaged him that we had storms on the approach, because you do not want to get caught on your motorcycle in this.

I can't wait for it to get here tomorrow... urgh, hope we don't lost power. When we got one last year, it took a couple days to get power back at work. It's no fun working in a grocery store with high humidity and minimal lighting. XD

We got kinda lucky in my area. A derecho never formed here, but there was a confirmed tornado just to the east of here.

We got storms in our city but nothing too terrible. However, about two weeks ago, we had tornadoes touching down in the northen county area, which freaked me out because i have family and friends who live in the north county area of my city.
