Other than Pokémon like you said, my other "when I was little" animes were Dragonball Z. I didn't follow it or anything, I used to watch it on VHS at a friend's house when we couldn't play outside. I didn't know much about it, but I always remember we would play outside as Dragonball Z characters. I would be Bulma XD.

When I actually got into anime for good, my first anime was InuYasha. Some girl I knew at school showed me it. And I really like it--and from there she introduced me to the Adult Swim Saturday "ACTN" lineup--Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (and there, is how I met my love hahaha XD), FLCL and all that good stuff. "My big three" I followed were FMA, GITS: SAC and InuYasha. Once and a while I'd catch Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion, but those were usually on later, and I'd end up falling asleep. XD

I would have to say it was Pokemon followed by Digimon since that was all I could remember when I was younger thinking they were cartoons before discovering they were anime. I would say Inuyasha was the anime that got me wondering what I was watching and from there I was watching anime and reading manga from BORDERS. Anyone remember that place?

My dad introduced me to Speed Racer and from there I went to Dragonball. Everything else I got was from Toonami and the rest is history.

The first complete manga I bought was Real Bout High School. I still have my Borders card somewhere, although I think I might have gotten the series from a combination of Borders, Barnes and Nobles, and Waldenbooks.
Everything I say is either true or extremely handsome!

I believe the first anime I ever saw was Dragon Ball Z. Most of my introduction to anime was whatever was on Toonami.

I used to think that Sailor Moon on Toonami was my first anime, but I guess it would actually be Noozles instead (aired in the early 90's).

Edit: There was also another koala anime I remember watching called "Adventures of the Little Koala."

My first anime was Samurai Pizza Cats. I was really young at the time and did not know it was an anime.

Ronin Warriors was a close second.

Probably Voltron. Back then I was like..5, I didn't know what anime was =p
Me and my cousin would watch random chinese dubbed Dragonball Z movies when I was 12 or 13; I would have no clue what the story was about, but the action was awesome xD

Hello!

Ah, those times. DBZ, Sailor Moon and Pokemon were the first ones I watched. Nothing too fancy. Does anyone remember Zoids?
I used to watch Hamtaro too but I don't why but I never saw it as an anime. :I

Superbook! XD I was super young and had no idea what anime even was, let alone that it WAS anime, but it was definitely my first one. Also watched a few other random ones that I had no idea were anime over the years - like Saban's Adventures of the Little Mermaid - but I didn't get into it until Digimon. Others around that time were Escaflowne, Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha (watched episodes taped in Japan with no subs thanks to a friend of mine, lol), Fushigi Yuugi, Kodocha, Soul Hunter, Cardcaptors, Mon Colle Knights, and most anything else that appeared on network TV at the time.

When I was young, one of the animated series I watched was Voltron. I wasn't concerned about its origin or style at the time. (That's an attitude which I try to retain to this day, even if I don't always succeed.)

Near the end of high school, a friend lent me a videotape of Slayers TV. It was the first step into a much larger world. Over the next few years, I would rent, borrow, and buy dozens of other series.

There was a series/sequel that aired on TechTV something like ten years ago (remember Leo LaPorte anybody?) called: Banner of the Stars/Crest of the Stars. That was the first 'toon' I'd seen that had story arcs and character development.

That got me started on Evangelion. By the time it ended I was hooked on anime.

Started con-going at GeekKon when it formed and to ACen for the past 2x years. All of it awesome!

I remember Real Bout High School!

The first anime that I ever saw would have to be Voltron or Sailor Moon, I'm not sure which I was able to catch first. From there, it was love at first viewing. I sought out all of the anime I could find (which wasn't much at the time). I watched Dragon Ball Z, Ronin Warriors, and even some awesome movies like Golgo 13 and Vampire Hunter D during late-night showings on movie channels like Showtime or HBO. I even remember watching Project A-Ko (I think it was on the SciFi channel). And of course, my favorite animated movie of my childhood: My Neighbor Totoro.
