Sure looked like a familiar location! Anyway, hope everything is fine.

Oh I'm sure there is plenty of water damage, but that's what insurance is for. I think it's safe to say anything damaged by this recent flood will be all cleaned up weeks before ACen.

Yeah my dad said they were showing River Road in Rosemont on the news, and it was basically a lake (river?)
So was my basement, briefly. :/

Just drove by there about an hour ago. Bryn Mawr (the road that runs between the Hyatt and con center) is still blocked off just past where you turn into the Hyatt drive. But it did look like the majority of the water is drained away. There's still a few weeks til con (thank goodness, so much to do still!) so I'm sure if Mother Nature stops dumping on us it will be all well in time for con. Just stay away from grassy areas that might still be muddy! ;)

The only thing I can think of is that there will be remodling and there might be some issues in certain rooms. I know that they have to be careful of mold and they would have to change the insolations. Makeing matters worse there's going to be more rain coming. We had a pretty snowless winter so this might be the make up for all that. Also heard on the radio once that in the way way distant future Illinois might become rainforest like.

There actually isn't much damage to the Hyatt itself, mostly just their parking lot flooded. There is a ramp down to the basement for trucks which brought water down there. Only 1 of our panel rooms was touched by water as far as we've been told. I've been assured that any possible damage would be repaired before our event.

Horray for less water damage. I was passing by various areas around rosemont, and it seemed like several houses had destroyed stuff out there. So kudos to Hyatt for that factor. Wonder how the Convention center, Hilton, double tree and other hotels did?

The other hotels should be fine, I don't think the water got as far as crossing River Road over there. As for the convention center, not sure but I will be there next Friday for a work conference and I'll report back :)

Hyatt is awesome and from walking around yesterday the only thing that was "out" was the parking gate to get into the parking area. That was no doubt underwater at some point so that was fried. But there were crews out there working so the Hyatt is moving quickly.

Even buildings that were under water have been up and running as of this week. With money comes great possibilities and Hyatt has a lot of it. I'm just glad ACen wasn't that weekend.
