This storm is nuts! Thankfully my basement didn't flood but my neighbors weren't so lucky. The block north to my house is completely flooded and they had to evacuate people out of their houses, some people were even in canoes O_O. Did anyone else get hit by this crazy weather?

I got lucky and went home when all was drained. But I saw the signs warning about high water.

My parent's neighbors got flooded for the first time this year, but they get flooded at least once a year so they expect it. It completely surrounds the houses on the street behind where my parent's live.

I dunno if this link will work or not, but my dad took it this morning to show the extent of the flooding... http://www.facebook....632013510158526 You can't see the street, but it's under all the water somewhere.

Any ground that's lower than our side yard was flooded since last night. If you look in the back yard at 5am it looked like a pool. 4 flooded yards including ours and since our neighbor's yard is full of water it leaked into the basement. Lucky it was only the corner of my sister's room and near a drain so we are keeping an eye on the weather incase of another storm like this morning. Pictures later to come. It's not as bad as the picture above but all this rain is too much work to keep the basement dry and flood free.

oh my gosh. it rained cats and dogs here last night, even if I was asleep I could still hear the rain and thunder. and I am a deep sleeper.

Fortunately I live high off the ground, but I am not sure about others...
Though In my last basement it flooded a lot and I know it really sucks to be walking on freezing, half foot pool of water in your house.

Trying to drive into work this morning was such a nightmare that I just turned around and went home. Every route I tried to take was flooded or blocked by police.

Many of my friends and family have basements and crawl spaces that flooded pretty bad. And even though I may not have a basement, my house felt left out on all the water fun so my roof started leaking instead, causing water to seep through the ceiling light fixtures and shorting them out :(.

o.o I'm glad I don't live near a river. So far our basement is okay, but I'm in Northern Indiana - I don't know how much more of the rain we can take. We needed it, but not in this bulk. x_x. We are under a Flood Warning though until late tonight...

I had water leaking in through my apartment roof last night at midnight. It was streaming out of my kitchen cabinet, from the ceiling. Turns out that my chimney finally crapped out and started letting water leak in through the attic crawl space.

We have gotten almost 4inches here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

No rain down here in Southern Illinois. That picture reminded me of the time a couple years ago when it rained almost two weeks straight during late April. Businesses had to close up shop until the storm ended, roads got flooded, and some small cities got wiped out.

I'm in the second story of an apartment complex, so I'm OK. No flooding in the complex at all actually, which is nice. So many of the roads are still closed though, which made getting to work (in the sideways rain at 7AM) and leaving work a little interesting. My work actually had to close down early because we discovered water in our electrical room. T___T

Everyone I know in a house has water in their basements. It brings back memories of the big flood we had in the early/mid 90's in this area, except I was a kid then and I didn't have to worry about the hassle that came with it!

Well here is my back yard. I have video from 5am and need to review the footage to see if you can tell how high the water is. Wished I recorded on my phone since the camera is better then the camera I recorded on.

Yeah, my campus got flooded - it was closed for the day, and the Chicago River runs right through it! I went home for the weekend, and it took 2 hours, when it usually takes 40 minutes. I live near Rosemont, maybe give or take 10 minutes away.

Luckily dodged getting flooded myself but several of my workers couldn't make it today because of undrivable conditions.

Before I moved to my current residence, I made sure to find out how close it was to flood plains, and I paid close attention to the community during three days of intense rain in August 2008. That was a good decision.

This afternoon, some of the roads I use to get home were partially or totally blocked off. Traffic was pretty bad. But I noticed that most of the Pace Buses were still running. And as far as I can tell, things are still okay as of Thursday evening. The next few days should be slightly cold but dry.

There's this huge park a few blocks from where I live that's just a huge grassy valley.

It's a pond now. The whole thing is filled up, and has cat tails growing on it. Quite scenic really.

I am so glad i live on a hill in an apartment on the second floor, i know the manager has to have a pump by his patio to keep the water from pooling around his patio door though so sometimes living on a hill is bad too. I did see one of the highways that connect where i live to two of the major freeways get about 6 inches away on both sides from flooding over, that would be interesting to see since i don't think they have a work around to reroute traffic

Yikes, some people got hit really bad. I'm fortunate since I live on the sixth floor and even the basement of my apartment building got out unscathed. A few other buildings in the same complex did end up with flooded basements, though.
