Not bad so far, nothing earth shattering. Expanded Remote Play is definitely nice and will help push me into buying a Vita.

Yeah. I agree with you on the earth shattering part. Maybe Watch Dogs, but nothing else. Do you know what the price tag is? Im just catching the demos and I didnt get to see all of it.

No price announced, no confirmed release date(Just Holiday 2013), no sighting of the system itself.

So overall it was barely anything. But they've shown more than Microsoft has for their system and that was the whole point. People are talking about it at least.

The ability to live stream direct from system seems pretty awesome and that the whole thing has a community feeling to it.

I think pricetag is rumored at 429 and 529 depending on HDD size I'm betting.

eh, pretty underwhelming reveal to say the least (Sony's always had a bad habit of running conferences at LEAST an hour too long). Also looks like the graphics leap isn't as big as it was this gen, so about what I expected. Probably for the best too

This trailer right here for Deep Down and the one for Watch Dogs is not on par with current gaming graphics... no way. Only way to look better is to film real life.

Watch Dogs is coming out on EVERYTHING this fall, so it's completely capable of running on the 360, PS3, and Wii U. The Deep Down trailer is obviously pre-rendered as no one was playing the bloody thing. I'll admit the latter looks BETTER than the PS3 stuff, but it's not as big of a leap as the PS3 was to the PS2 was. And that's for the best.

Law of Diminishing Returns. Since graphics and physics have reached such a high point already it takes infinitely more power and effort to get ever smaller increases. Just as a bodybuilder can't get bigger forever, games are getting closer to that plateau and it takes much more work to make gains.

I don't think that the Law of Diminishing Returns has domain over technology but maybe human's capacity to process it.

Was a nice presentation.
Might pick one up a couple of years (and price drops) down the line.
Kinda of like what I did with the PS3 and 360.
I'm fine with not being an early adopter.

Agreed. With time, companies usually work out the kinks and know how to better use the system anyway. I don't remember all of the launch titles but I remember only Heavenly Sword and Resistance catching my eye.

Overall, I was kinda underwhelmed. Prices have been rumored so I'll say they'll range from $399 on the low end up to $549 on the upper end, dependent on configuration.

Outside of that, they should have announced a Vita price drop. It is overdue. They'll probably announce a new hardware revision and a price drop for E3 and round out the information for the PS4 as well.

At this point, I'm not sold and will likely wait.

I think it's been confirmed that the PS4 does NOT require 24/7 internet access and CAN play used games.
Microsoft better do the same.

I'm pretty impressed so far. Deep Down, Knack, and other titles look fun and the new features sound promising. Probably wont buy one right away though. Maybe later in 2014, perhaps 2015?

My husband's main concern was whether Sony would announce the hardware, maybe some specs. He was pretty satisfied with what he got from that.

Overall, we weren't looking for something that would go all OHWOWFIREWORKSOHMYGOSHICAN'TWAITAHHHHHHHHH. Just something that would give us an idea of what was coming. They've already done a lot better than Nintendo and Microsoft, at any rate. It may seem underwhelming, but considering we have another nine months or so for this baby to grow (and the announcement itself wasn't a total flop), chances are we'll be seeing more stuff.

Either way, we'll likely be waiting until after release to get one - partly because this'll give us time to see what it can do, and partly because I'm saving for a better car and thus need the extra few hundred bucks.

Microsoft has chance to alter what they want to do with the 720 and try to usurp Sony, which they are easily capable of doing so. One thing I noticed is Sony's Playstation World, akin to XBox Live.

Reading about that today was a bit sad and disappointing. Kind of stinks that you can't play previous gen games but then I thought: how often do I play PS2 or PS1 games anymore? Most of the older games James and I play now, we actually got from PSN anyway. We still have the original discs for most of them (like Final Fantasy Tactics), and we still have my PS2 too. Since James bought one of the original backwards-compatible PS3's, we'll have to see if we decide to keep that whether we get the PS4 or not.

Ugh.... Both of those make for an unhappy STVO. I love having a large video game collection and fine with having multiple systems but this kind of irks me. I love backwards compatibility because it allows me to keep all the old games and sell an old system in order to give my shelves more space. Also with iPhones and other devices allowing transferring of data from one system to another, this is really irritating. I mean even Nintendo allows you to do it with Wii and WiiU. Tsk tsk.

That's because the Wii U IS a Wii. Sony is switching from the Cell processor to the more common x86 types to make it easier for developers. The downside is that does make backwards compatibility pretty much impossible.

It is slightly disappointing but for me not a deal breaker since I keep all of my systems any way.

Makes sense. I'd like to keep all my systems, but in the end it comes to storage for me. I'll keep my PS3 and buy a PS4 but still a bit disappointed.
