Well alternatively if I stayed in school this semester instead of taking time off for medical leave, I wouldn't have gotten to go because finals week started may 20 so I'm just glad I am going at all. (I am in grad school so it would've been a definite no go)
ACen 2014: Friday: all day; saturday/sunday- up in the air of whether I will attend
costumes: Rue: leotard (Princess Tutu),Evil Queen Regina (Once Upon A Time episode 1x07)- *maybe*, Karen (Harvest Moon 64)

Yep. I won't have enough vacation time to cover it and we aren't allowed to take unpaid time off....

I don't think that your specific scenario is specific to corporate America, but it's a shame that you don't have enough leave. A buddy of mine, who works in a warehouse packing suits, used to just not go to work when he wanted to hang out with us. It was a delicate balance of showing up enough to not get fired.

When I say that I more mean office work. That rule is fairly standard with most companies. If you don't show up twice in a row it's considered job abandonment. I don't give two cookies about being paid, but I do cAre about my job unfortunately.

I'm still waiting to see if I get off.My boss/manager is on vacation. I have enough vacation and sick hours to take a month off if I wanted to but I don't so I want my days off now! I put my notice a month ago. Tired of waiting until the last minute to know.

Three weeks into my new job and they said it wasn't a problem with me taking the time off. If I understand their policy, I receive 40 hours sick time in July. Three floating holidays after six months, and one week vacation. would be two if I started at the beginning of the year.

I get two weeks vacation, but I have to take it all in week chunks; if I take just a weekend, I have to take it unpaid. I'm not sure if it's worse to have it and not be able to use it or not. XD

Lucky! We get sick hours every 6 months, how much? I don't really know. Vacation once a year the usual 40+ hours depending on how long you have been working with the company but that was all before the new contract so I have no clue on how it works since I haven't asked my go to person on that. All I know is when we get raises and for how long it will be until the new contract that the union and the company will make.

I am glad I planned my days off ahead of time. I knew to take off this upcoming Thursday & Friday off and then take Friday of ACen off. I only had 3 days to work with and I wanted extra money in my pay check that goes into ACen weekend.

The big thing for me is ACen is my one convention, as well as vacation, this year. I planned my vacation around ACen- I got sick around christmas though, and that screwed everything up. :(

I have good news and bad news. The good is I picked up the new hot sauce today and it is about 1,000,000 scoville units hotter than last years. The bad news, I saw a mini bottle of reserve at $55 but couldn't tell how hot it was so I skipped over it. When I got home I found out it was 2 times hotter than what I got. My mistake means some people won't get to try a very tasty treat and for that I am truly sorry.

If something is that hot can you really even taste it? See this is why "The Happening" occurred: plants develop these useful self-defense mechanisms, but we just take it, increase the potency of their irritant tenfold, and then consume it for fun. Good job guys and gals, the plants are going to cause us to commit suicide by getting together and forcing us to watch a terrible movie.

No hard feelings. I have a bag of halved and de-seeded Trinidad Moruga Scorpion peppers as well as extract rated at 7.6 million SHUs. One more week before planting begins again. All is well

For some of us, yes. Over time your body adjusts and adapts. It is then that you can get the sweetness, tang, and natural smoke of the peppers. As crazy hot as some are, they are still enjoyable.

I know, you left off the part where I said, "...but we just take it, increase the potency of their irritant tenfold, and then consume it for fun." Of course that was all a joke on an awful movie.

Lots of spice talk while I was gone. It reminds me of the prankwar spice thingy on youtube. Something about an extract that is valued at 2 million units...
