So, I'm waiting to be part of a panel, so I couldn't buy my badge yet. If it comes back that our panel is denied (which at the moment it is) - do I get the opportunity to purchase the badge at the lower price it was offered previously, since by the rules I -couldn't-, or does this mean I have to pay whatever the price is -right now-?

If I don't have an opportunity to buy a lower priced badge it feels, to me, somewhat extortionate, since I was going to work at your con, and now since you said I can't you want me to pay more money than if I wouldn't have and bought it off the bat.

Again - I can't find anything about this (and tbh, I didn't think we'd be denied, so I hope that is just an oversight on ACen's part since our panel has been well attended the past few years, so I hope the appeal goes our way) so I am just wanting clarification on this.

It is one of those things that might make or break me coming to the conference so I'd like to hear the official ruling on it.

Yes it was in the panelist policy that was required reading for all panelists.
Panelist Policy

#2 under panelist badges read
"In the event that a panel request is denied, the registration pricing tier that was in effect at the time the COMPLETED panel request was received will be applied. If the application was submitted during Tier 2, and denied in Tier 3, the applicant will receive Tier 2 pricing."

I would suggest that you email us. This policy only applies to those listed as co panelists on the panel before the time of denial. Also we don't always approve return panels, sometimes we want to change up the content of the convention, we see a loss of interest, etc. Since our reg system only holds badges for a day or two we need to be emailed with the request to roll back the price by the denied panelist or the system would just reset to the current price if we did it without the request. As Voices said, the policy, which is required reading by all panelists, says that the discount will be given to denied panelists who are listed in the panel. We would never want to extort our panelists. Also those denied are welcome to reapply with a different panel since we are still open until March 1st.

As I am only a copanelist, I didn't see the panelist policy (I get very few emails from ACen as it is regarding panels) so I appreciate that being shown. I did not try to purchase my ticket yet, so that never came up if it's linked in the process.

99% of any other panel I would be interested in running is not fit for what ACen wants to do (namely - not Japan-centric/related to Anime) so that is out for me.

Appreciate all the responses, and I hope that we don't lose our spot this year (as, tbh, main reason to spend $1k+ in travel to ACen is to do the panel and without it it's very hard to justify). I'll wait to hear from the lead panelist. Thanks again!
