We now have a LOT more applications than we received last year. Our application is still open but we will most likely be officially full after our NEXT reviewing session. So if you haven't applied yet we recommend doing it ASAP. ASAP as in within the next few days. We see a few popular panels we know should be returning who haven't applied yet. We will not be accepting applications after we close, there will be no exceptions. If you have already applied for a panel you can see the status of your panel on your profile page in the registration system. All panels that applied before November 1st have been approved or denied. If you have any questions about applying please feel free to ask!

The one about Trolling? Not sure that really counts. Would love to see the one from last year! Very well thought out and enteraining!

Also, any idea when we might be finding out when panels will be approved?

We haven't posted descriptions yet, the one with troll in the title isn't actually about trolling, it is a well rounded panel on the game :)

We've been approving panels in groups of 20-25 so we don't overfill our space. More is coming this week :)

RE: The League of Legends panel

I have a member from the company that makes the game pretty much locked down for my event.

As I told Wingy earlier, I do need a response this week. I have a meeting with the guy at PAX East this weekend and I need to give him an answer so he has appropriate time to clear things with his company.

I feel like I have a good history with the con. I've stepped in to run events to save them from being canceled in the past, I have a history of running events well, and I am offering what is basically a free guest. You would be getting above and beyond the best panel related to this subject outside of an actual gaming event.

Dang, I guess I missed the window on this, huh? I just recently found out that I could go. And the panels I was thinking of running don't seem to be represented. Oh well, guess there's always next year.

Just wondering if this panel got approved? I hope we don't get cheated out of a league of legends panel that would include a company person. Not to mention being totally confused as to how ACen would let that happen.

I think that in general sums up how ACen has been the last few years. Not just with panels, but with everything. I can understand the impatience. I really can. They said that they'd have the prelim schedule up last week. They completely blew past it and have now said basically "It'll be done when it's done" I go back to my earlier point I made in the other thread about panels. If I was at my employer, and I told them that I'd have something done by a certain time and then I don't deliver. They'd be understanding. I do it again, they get annoyed. I do it again, I start getting in trouble. It's not the fact that we haven't been given a schedule or that all these panels haven't been approved yet that bothers us (Although the fact that the LoL panel still hasn't been approved yet is an f*cking travesty) it's the fact that we have been continually promised that it'll be done by a certain point and it isn't. And it's not just this years con that it's happened at. It's been going on for years! How does this not bother any of you higher ups? How is it that there has to be continuous delays year after year? What is it gonna take to change that? These are all legitimate questions that quite frankly need to be evaluated by the higher ups and decided what the best course of action is. Because speaking as a congoer. This is unacceptable.

I know that I'm probably one of the more junior ACen-goers here. This will be my first ACen, perhaps only my third or fourth con total, and I'm not terribly active on these forums. However, while there are legitimate concerns regarding timing of acceptances, it does not--in any capacity--mean that we should attack the staff. This picture--and the tone that's been adopted in other posts--is extraordinarily inappropriate. As far as I know, the staff are volunteers. You're bashing those who have volunteered their time to make a place where we can gather and have fun for a weekend. While it is frustrating that the panel list isn't yet finalized, and many have been waiting for quite some time, does it honestly matter if <insert panel here> was denied or approved when it appears that your only consideration is whether you get to go? Sure, the League panel sounds neat and it might be a great panel for some. However, it doesn't appear to be your panel. Your indignation and tone over possibly missing out on a panel the staff might have denied anyway is, at best, childish and wholly unnecessary.

If you'd bothered to check Bloo09's profile, you'd see that she was last active on 3/23. You might have just missed her via pm or, perhaps, she didn't see it among the many other messages she likely receives as a department head. We don't know what's going on in the lives of the staff and it's reprehensible to infer that the staff should only exist to cater to our needs. There are other methods to contact them, and there are other staff members. Did you try messaging another mod or staff member? Your post doesn't indicate that you did; I recommend that route before bashing the entire staff.

I think the point he's trying to make is that we shouldn't be attacking the moderators for work that they volunteer to do. Yes, they are expected to get things done but they're dealing with a massive amount of planning concerning schedules, & room arrangements (as there are different types of rooms in terms of set-ups, sizes, & timing of how to fit everyone into each room of choice). There's also a great number of panels to go through - more so than other years.

They've given us warnings about this. Though there are difficulties making self-set deadlines, which is an issue, I don't personally see it as a reason to depreciate the work they're putting into it. I see the work they put into this as a favor, giving us an opportunity to present what we love, & generously reimburse it with badge discounts. I've gone to cons where there are little to no reimbursements.

Apart from those who need confirmation in terms of whether or not they can attend, I don't see the point in reacting this harshly.

Yes, it's frustrating, but given what we know of the situation (as I stated above), I don't think it's fair.

If we want to constructively critique them, perhaps it's better to suggest assigning more people to whatever team organizes the panels?
