Looks like those dirty rebels are having fun with Obama's petition website.

And the article mentions that it would cost around $852 quadrillion dollars to make it. Does that cover the cost of a cover for the exhaust pipe???

And no wonder those stormtroopers couldn't hit anyting. After spending that kind of cash, the Empire most likely did not have anything left over for training.

I would support militarization of space - for one good reason:

It'll drive countries around the world to invest in putting up space infrastructure: and therefore, eventually, make it easier for humans to conquer space.

It's been more than 50 years since the moon landings, and mankind hasn't done anything similar since.

I think it has a lot to do with cost and a lack of nationalism--let's face it, we probably wouldn't have strove so hard to get to the Moon if it hadn't been for wanting to beat the Dirty Rotten Commies (aka the Russians) to it. Right now everyone's economy is in the tank, too; you want to fund a new Moon mission, but if it's a choice between welfare and the Moon...

But yeah, think of all the practical things you can do with a Death Star. Worried about asteroid collisions? Not any more.

My husband really likes the idea. He's all for the logistical/job part of it - imagine all the jobs that would be opened up for this. Granted, it's more than a little outside of the budget...but the SW fans can still dream.

This was 1 of the most dummest things i heard about :rolleyes: (help)..

What made it worse is that people took this seriously ....

I did't see the U.S.A. doing this, if any country tries this it would be China,
they have the $$$$ and not be in poor house over it...

The biggest reason people wanted the U.S.A. to look into it is because like in
some movies that have been made, the planet won't be live able in the far future...

And if they even were to consider this only the top important people would be up there,
besides some to do the lower work...
