World War Z Official Trailer

I thought this movie was going to suck, but after seeing this...holy crapsnacks. I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE.

The book was unbelievably awesome, and while there's no way the movie can quite capture the book, I'm feeling better about it now.

It's not World War Z. Call it 28 Months Later or whatever but there was not a single thing in that trailer that was World War Z. Also the CGI and zombies look really terrible.

actually its Plagues INC. and unfortunatly i didnt read WWZ but as far as the trailer goes it doesnt make me interested to see it and im a big zombie fan

I thought the same. I couldn't buy into it. I'll wait for KICK-A55 2 the following week

Zombies overrunning New York, the Army fighting last stand actions, zombies "ramping up" as described in the book, mass exodus to sea...all of that was in the book.

There was no way to make WWZ the way it was in the book. Audiences would be so damn confused as to who was who it would bomb. I'm hoping they're doing their best on this.

I see A-10s strafing zombies, something that would've made the book much better (albeit much shorter--modern militaries would probably obliterate a zombie horde). If it sucks, eh...I'll never get the $5 and two hours I spent on George Romero Hates Republicans Land of the Dead back either.

Not as a movie but it could have been done perfectly well as something like an HBO mini-series ala Band of Brothers or something like that.

It's just disappointing to me since the book is so rich and detailed and aims to be relatively realistic and they've forsaken all of that to make a generic action movie.

There I agree with you. This would've been a much better miniseries...probably no one went that route because Walking Dead is already kicking butt.

I think, though, a generic action movie is the only way you're going to sell a zombie movie. Deep and philosophical sounds good--and Brooks did a fine job of balancing that in the book--but that's not what audiences want to see. Again, they want that, they'll watch Walking Dead (once described as "an hour of people talking occasionally interrupted by zombies"). HOTD, I think, went the route of 70% action with 20% philosophy and 10% fanservice--and it worked out pretty well for them.

I will say this: I think they would've been better served by concentrating on Todd Wainio, who kind of bookends WWZ, but I'm willing to give this a try. Hopefully it's more Walking Dead and less I Am Legend.

And that's fine if your just trying to sell a generic zombie movie, but then you don't need to call it World War Z at all. And it's not like the book is so well know among the general public that the name alone will draw them in.

Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining is all I'm asking from the movie studios.
