I booked two rooms for the weekend, arriving Thursday and leaving Monday. The person booking the room told me that while the rooms for Thursday night and Sunday night would be at the $222 Quad rate, the rate for Friday and Saturday night would be $289.

How is it possible that ACen hasn't booked the entire hotel as their room block? Why are the double/double rooms sold out already for the room block, and why am I being charged more for the rooms for two of the nights of the convention?

Someone needs to fix this with the Embassy.

From what I understand, embassy fills up in a matter of minutes. I don't know, but it seems likely you got in with the normal rate.

The Embassy block of dbl/dbl rooms sold out very quickly this year. Faster than we had anticipated in fact. As far as I can remember from this particular contract (please keep in mind that I have been reading contracts for 6 hotels and the ConCenter, reaching as far forward as 2016) we do in fact block most of the hotel, if not all of it. I am not certain, but at this time I am actually laying down to bed for the evening and my computer is off. I just wanted to let you know that i will be looking into the matter in the morning. If you dont mind you can send me a private message through the forums with the name attached to the rooms. Also, most of the hotels in the Rosemont area keep a few rooms for guests that are laid over on flights from O'Hare airport, and flight crews.

As soon as I have more information I will reply again.

This is for your second statement/question: (some of it.)

I don't know if this helps but when I called the agent at 2pm and then later on around 3-4pm when the room block first opened, (because I didn't get my email for the reservation,) he told me around the 4pm time that there was about rooms left open for the room block that he could, "count on two hands."

The double rooms sell out quick in this block than any other block; from what I gathered they sold out in 30 minutes to an hour when it opened at 10am on the dot. Also they can't book the whole hotel for the room block like how they can't book the whole Hyatt/Hilton/etc.; there are other people besides con goes who do use the hotels, other conventions, etc. so they need the rooms just as much as me and you. So Anime central midwest talks with the hotel and settles in a certain amount of # of rooms along with the final price. If they get more rooms this might raise the hotel price rate as well (supply and demand but if the hotel wished it they could charge whatever they wanted)

Are they both double rooms? Same amount of people? What time did you book both rooms? The same time or 10am or a different time? Some information seems to be left out.

MagnusBlue, thanks, I sent you a PM with the information.

I booked both rooms at the same time with the same number of people (4) in each room. I even asked if booking a King room would be cheaper... it wasn't. The King rooms were completely sold out for all nights and I was quoted a price of $400+ for those rooms.

I just want to get the same rate for all nights in my room. The confirmation email I received was weird, too... it shows the $222 rate, but with a *note* added saying that Friday and Saturday will be $289. This just seems very fishy to me.

I had that happen to me last year. What it was explained as is that they had rooms available for the nights that I got the discount, but were sold out of rooms with the special rate for the other days, so I could still have the room but it would be without the special rate.

It's crappy, but it's not really 'shadey' in the sense that all hotels do it.

Embassy has more King-suites available as of today 11/12 3:38PM CST.
