Howdy! I need some hotel help ;.;

I want to stay at one of the hotels that is actually in the 'convention triangle' (As I call it). I've been going to the comfort inn that's a few minutes away and I love that hotel. They've always been good to us and the rooms have always fit us perfectly.

Last year I was in the artist alley and I hopw to be in it again this year. Last year all the running back and forth was awful. Constantly re-paying for parking also sucked. I want a hotel where I can stay parked for the whole weekend. I need a room with a fridge and is spacious enough for four people per room. I also want the hotel to be quiet. I know people party all night, but which one of the like main 3 hotels is quietest?

I know I'm not being very straightforward, but can some of y'all tell me what your past experiences have been at the 3 main hotels. I think the 3 main ones are the hilton, hyatt, and embassy.

I personally would go for the Doubletree based on what you want. The rooms are quite good sized, very nice and definitely quiet. They have a parking garage attached which you can stay in all weekend and that garage has a skywalk to the convention center which would make moving your wears quite easy. I don't remember if all of their rooms have a fridge or not so you may have to check with them. Also it costs about the same as the other big two hotels there.

So in general I'd say go for the Doubletree.
All systems... GO!

I know for sure the Embassy Suites comes with a fridge. The rooms are definitely big enough for your group. I do not know how quiet the hotel is though. Maybe someone else can answer that one.

I stayed at the Double Tree before and the room didn't come with a fridge, I think it will cost extra but check the web site for information. In the Embassy every room has a fridge and plenty of room. It has 2 rooms in 1 hotel room, 3 if you count the bathroom. You can hear the noise in the living room of the room when they play the music for happy hour and when loud people pass by.

I let one of my friends take care of the hotel for ACen, we've stayed at the Hilton for the last 2 years and it's been a good hotel with good front desk service with clean, spacious rooms. The Hilton is oftentimes overlooked, IMO, everyone swarms to either the Hyatt (it being the main convention hotel) or the Embassy Suites (for their free breakfast), so it's very QUIET. There was no fridge, however, in the rooms we booked, so there's a minus for you there, but you can call the hotel itself to check. The one complaint I had this year was we got a corner room... where you can hear the planes take off from O'Hare airport all the time, not nice if you're wanting to sleep. The year we got a non-corner room I didn't notice the planes at all unless I went outside. Parking was $12 a day for me both years, and I paid for 3 days with unlimited in-and-out privileges. Dedicated parking lot outside, though I do believe there is a shared ramp as well in the back.

I've been to the Embassy and the Double tree and I can tell you that both hotels are loud in the lobby but that's expected in any hotel, as well as the Hilton.

Embassy was quiet in my room and when I went upstairs as well as the Double tree. I have no idea about the hallways and rooms to the Hilton though. I would say pick one or the other. I was on the third floor mind you so I didn't hear happy hour like Cookie-san did, so that issue might be on the first/second floors in the Embassy only.

Worse one to go to is the Hyatt, unless you are on the upper floors. I roomed there as well as I heard people in the hallways in the lower floors and not really/barely in the upper floors.

If you do book at the Hilton or the Double tree, there is no microwave or fridge there so you would have to eat take out food and bring a cooler for three/four days as well as run back and forth to the ice machine.

I agree. I've stayed in the Hilton and the Embassy and will patiently wait for the Embassy rooms to open up. Free breakfast and a fridge in the room allows for being more cost-efficient during the con.

That's the only reason why I haven't went back to the Hyatt. I was rooming them for years until like the last two times I went to ACen and I never went back!

You're looking for the Embassy, then.

- More than enough room for 4 people (they don't call themselves Embassy Suites for nothing!)
- free fridge AND microwave in the frontroom/kitchen of your suite
- KITCHEN TABLE! \(OwO)/
- Queen size hide-a-bed in the frontroom couch
- PLENTY of closet and room space for AA wares & products, with still enought room to comfortably stay in the room
- literally JUST across the street from the DESCC for easy AA ware transporting (literally one crosswalk and maybe 500 feet from there to the doors)
- barely a 5-7min walk to the Hyatt by sidewalk (all depends on how fast you move, really)
- connects to the Hamster Trail Skywalk, which is really nice when it rains (and we all know it does at least once!)
- FREE BREAKFAST AND HAPPY HOUR
- in & out parking privileges
- staff responds to room problems quickly, esp. for being busily at-capacity all weekend (under an hour for a busted toilet to be fixed from time called in)
- actually quiet & sleeping-friendly (except durning Sunday checkout, though checkout hour's noisy in all the hotels)
- close enough to stagger back to when you feel like you're about to die from being up so late so long for so many days
- nice night security dude(s), esp. when you feel like you're about to die from being up so late so long for so many days

Thank you all for your helpful comments! I didn't expect so many so soon. I think we'll be going with the embassy and I am eagerly waiting for those rooms to open. Don't suppose y'all know when that would be happening?
