When I use the passkey I can still find rooms Friday to Sunday, looks like Thursdays are gone on there though

I'm not sure, our Hotels officer will look into it, but its never a guarantee that we will get more.

I reserved a room then later realized we wanted to be high rollers and booked a suit. I will shortly be cancelling my normal room of 2 double beds for friday and saturday night. Not quite sure how the blocks work, but like i said. one will be canceled so i don't see why it wouldn't be available

As of today, the blocks are all filled for all hotels except for the Comfort Inn which is taking reservations at 129 a night, I believe.

I booked a room at the Hilton for $349 a night just in case no more blocks are allocated (so glad I don't have kids or school to pay off...)

After issues with Youmacon, I'm a little worried about the king size bed room my group reserved. We have 4 people (including me), but the site says it's for up to 3 people max. I was under the impression it'd be okay for 4 people when booking but there at Youmacon, Marriott hotel staff strictly enforced maximum room numbers.

Do you think this is going to be a problem?

Youmacon is not the first to do this with their conventions. I remember going to Ohayocon years ago and the only time you were allowed on the Hyatt elevators was if you had your room key to show. It was perfectly fine and ran very smoothly. I believe Youmacon was just the first time it became a big deal and people got butt hurt.
Sharing rooms and sleeping in bathtubs is con tradition! I'm having a room party Thursday night. Are they gonna tell me I can't have legal adult guests in my hotel suite? I hope they don't take a page out of Youmas book. Although do to the sheer mass of people that show up at ACen every year, they would have one HELL of a job trying to enforce it...

I am not Hotel no convention staff, I speak only from experience. That said...

It is the hotel(s) that set room occupancy. These are set for fire code and other safety precautions. As to how well it is monitored, varies from each hotel. At hotel discretion, they can either change your room and bill you not only the difference but any penalties for violation or evict you(and your group)from the hotel all together.

My advice, either book the appropriate room size or find a way to reduce the group size. It's not worth spoiling the con for one bad decision.

Well, I'd love to book a room with 2 beds, but there aren't any rooms like that open for the weekend. :C I'm constantly rechecking the Hyatt page to see if any open up.

But! The good news is, is that the email I received as confirmation for the room we booked says the following:

Additional Guest Rate
Second Guest: 0.00
Third Guest: 0.00
Fourth Guest: 0.00
Fifth Guest: 0.00

That gives me the impression that having 4 to a room, despite it being a "3 person king size" room, will be fine.

They say that with every room purchase, despite stated capacity; if it said it's a three person room, it's a three person room.

Huh, I hope not. I called them and they said it's fine for 4 people, and even offered a roll-away bed. I guess I'll call again to confirm?

Yep! Just called. The representative said that the maximum occupancy is 4 people, (& said that 5 was even possible.) She just said that we will only get one bed, & did not have to purchase a roll-away bed (which is $25) if we were fine sleeping on the floor.

Hopefully this is good news for other people, too.

That's good, then. Some hotels are more strict about it than others; I've yet to been at a con hotel that was super-stupid strict about it, though. If you called and they said it was okay, then it's okay. :3

Yeah, I'm probably gonna call again the month before the con & week before the con just to make sure though. After Youma, I don't trust hotels as much.

In regards to the Hyatt room block for Thursday Evening. I have spoken with the Sales Manager for ACen, and she is currently looking in to getting us more rooms for Thursday evening. In the past we have not typically needed that many room nights for Thursday. After some research with all the hotels, I have discovered that Thursday nights have begun to increase in demand. Once the extra Thursday room nights are available, I will be sure to make an announcement.

Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done, or argued, if the hotels decide to enforce the maximum number of sleeping occupants per room. I have spoke with all of the hotels that ACen has room blocks with, in regards to what has happened at other Con's, and they have assured me that they will not be limiting access to guest rooms for events such as room parties, or if you and a few friends just want to go and chill for a bit.

I'm not too sure who to ask directly about this one.

Do you know if there would be any rooms opening up at The Embassy (preferably a double?) A few friends and myself will be traveling from Southwestern Indiana and will definitely be in need of a room. I hope the Embassy isn't sold out completely.

Your best bet is to call the hotel directly. At this point with Room Blocks its easier to call then do it online. But DO NOT FORGET to mention ACen/Anime Central when you call otherwise your going to get charged the normal room rate and ick to those prices. Good Luck!

also another tip for hotels idk if this changed with the 2012 year but in 2011 i went with a group of 8 we had two double rooms. when the reservation was made we had requested connected rooms. we were under the impression that we would be right next door to each other. as it turns out upon check in that we werent getting the connected rooms and ended up on seperate floors different ends of the hotel from each other. So while i say you can request it dont get your hopes up, and this was at the hyatt.

So I've been hearing that almost all of the hotels opened for ACen are all sold out. Is this true? My anime club still hasn't booked rooms yet, and are just wondering. We don't want to be too far from ACen (couple years ago we could only get there via the shuttle from the hotel; otherwise it was a 30 minute walk) if possible. Sorry if this has been asked already. I skimmed the thread and didn't see anything about it.

This is just a general question...but I'm hoping someone can help out...
I'm in a group with four other con-goers this year (all of us are between 18-19 years old), and we have yet to reserve the hotel.
Are there any hotels in the area where you do not need to be 21 to check in? (We're all coming from the same university, so we won't have parents or elder relatives accompanying us).
If anyone could help out, that will be wonderful

((and just as a precaution, we are trying to find a 21+ person who might be willing to come with us, just in case))
