Hello.
I am planning to work on a cosplay that needs faux fur something like these:

http://img2.etsystat...200974_6gfx.jpg
http://www.honeysuck...RED%20CREAM.jpg
The color I am looking for is either a cream, light beige/nude, or light tan.
I also want either a very very reputable site that you have used so many times you don't DARE to question the quality of service & fabric, a speedy delivery and decent pricing OR (more preferably) a walk in store in the Chicagoland area. By Chicagoland I mean:
*Chicago (North side - Downtown)
*Suburbs including:
- Niles
- Evanston
- Skokie
- Morton Grove
- Lincolnwood
I have so far checked Hancock Fabrics online, JoAnn Fabrics Online and Vogue Fabrics online.

It couldn't hurt to make a more recent trip up there. I went maybe 2 or 3 years ago and at the time, while I wasn't really looking for anything in particular (that I can recall) I remember feeling a little bit disappointed with what I saw in the store. Maybe if I go back now with a clear idea of what I am looking for (and maybe in this long time they would have changed things up) I'll have more luck.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I was just at Vogue a couple weeks ago, and while I recall they had Minky, and a type of faux shearling, I do not seem to remember them having much in the way of long pile fur. :/
My mom recently showed me Fishman's Fabrics in Chicago proper. We haven't gone there yet, but it does say it has faux fur available on its website (doesn't say it's long or short pile though).
I've shopped at www.fabric.com before and can say that the fabric I've gotten from them has been good quality. They've been fast with the shipping and their selection is good. They also cut by the half-yard, which is nice. I've bought many other kinds of fabric from them, but not fur, though. Their faux fur is here: http://www.fabric.co...fur-fabric.aspx
I've seen http://www.disctinctivefabric.com and http://www.imstuffedfur.com/ both recommended in other places for high quality faux fur, though I haven't bought from either of them to know personally. They might be worth investigating, though, if you're having trouble finding the quality you want. Though again, any really high quality long pile fur is going start at about $20 a yard and go up from there.
Don't discount your local box stores without visiting them in person, either. I work part time at my local Hancock Fabrics, and while the stuff that comes out at halloween isn't great, we have a couple different long pile furs in a better quality (around $14 a yard, so not great, but better than the $5 halloween stuff), usually a light and a dark. You might be able to dye a white fur to the cream you want if you're careful. And it's always worth asking the managers if they have anything like what you're looking for. Sometimes they can get it from the warehouse or have it shipped in from another store. And sometimes, the workers might know where else you can look to find it! Hancock (and JoAnn's too, I'll wager) tends to hire people with sewing experience and/or a passion for some aspect of sewing or fabric arts. There might just be some internet-less, specialty, hole-in-the-wall somewhere in your town that gets all its business from word-of-mouth -- and you'd never know unless you ask! (I just found out about TWO places just like this in my town. it's crazy!)
anyway, good luck in your search!

I haven't seen any really good fur in local shops recently - granted I haven't been specifically looking for it either. And as we get closer to Halloween, the selection is going to be really picked over.
Anyway - wanted to offer another mail order option. I've ordered their fur in the past and the quality and selection is great, but the best part is you can get free samples so you'll know before you spend money if it's what you want/need.
It looks like you want a longer pile, and those are here: http://www.mendels.com/fur2.shtml
Shorter pile options are here: http://www.mendels.com/fur1.shtml
Free sample (up to 5) ordering page is here: http://www.mendels.com/swatch.shtml
Good luck!

Thanks so much for those links! I really like that I can order free samples! I like the look of what is on the site and the fact that you recommend it from past use makes me feel confident in going forward with it. I have just ordered 4 samples! I'll let you know what I think of them once I get them!
Thanks again for the help!

Depending on how much fur you need, sometimes all I do is go to a thrift shop and buy the detachable pieces that are sometimes on coats or used as scarves.
