Most of the people im friends with have gone in their own direction in life or Ive had to walk away from them. So my main aspect is to find anime and game fans in my general area. new friends with similar interests!

No, not really. I mean I like that manga too (haven't got really far into it yet though). That story has alot of context and character deveoplment it to make it stand out from just a bland "romantic comedy" anime.
Now if you had said your favorite was say....Black Butler, Hetaila axis powers, etc. Then I'd think your man card would be in danger.

I don't think anyone is taking this post seriously.
And Xeno, let's face it. Most harem anime is pretty terrible (Tenchi Muyo excluded). They take the worst male character ever, put them with a bunch of cute girls who for some reason love the guy because he is that big of a loser. Which is why most harem realize the only reason people watch them is for the tits. Love Hina was set in a freaking hot spring. Those girls got naked every single day and not one boob. Not one!

It's funny, because my husband loves Ai Yori Aoshi, Love Hina, Tenchi, and Black Butler. Heck, when we first started dating he was hunting down the DVD sets to Fushigi Yugi. (He found one, I bought him the other.) I did ask him about this though. He does say he loved Sailor Moon when we were in high school - he'd watch it when it was on Cartoon Network. He also liked Cardcaptor Sakura.
Then again, it kinda depends on what one feels qualifies for losing the man card...

Bah. Ai Yori Aoshi is awesome. It's a cute little fluffy romantic story. And unlike Love Hina, I didn't want the entire cast dead by the end of the series.

Does AMG count as a harem? Probably, right? I mean theres only a few girls and its pretty clear where the relationship is and no one else is trying to butt in TOO hard...AMG is pretty solid though. Though I enjoyed the manga far more than the anime...Except for the movie...the movie was sweet.

Can't speak for Sekirei, but I personally see harem genre anime as being light-hearted, and HOTD is not that. But that's me.
When Ryoko or Naru get carried away in Tenchi or Love Hina, it's kinda humorous. After all, Ryoko doesn't mean to destroy half of Casa del Masaki, and Naru's punching of Keitaro is done knowing he's incapable of being killed by it. Saeko Busujima? She literally gets off on killing people. Saeko's sexy as hell...from a comfortable distance.

I think in 2012 manga is starting to not fall into norms like it used to be, such as Kokoro Connect or Ore ga Akuma de, Aitsu ga Yome de. They are both label Shonen but they are so full of moe, sap, romance, and humour, especially the latter one, that it's hard to see them as shonen manga at all.

Dude, Ai Yori Aoshi is actually a shonen title. Plenty of shonen titles are romance, actually! Not that there's anything wrong with a guy liking shojo or josei anyway; I mean come on, do I have to give up my right to consider myself feminine because I love Monster? But Ai Yori Aoshi is one of the least "girly" shows you could like.

I've seen Ai Yori Aoshi, first season only. It's a cute show though I don't remember too much of it since it's been a while. I was into it during the time when Yoko Ishida came to ACen. I do remember feeling
