Summer is almost coming to an end. We still have a couple of movies left this month, but we simply cannot forget the movies that we've talked about or may have seen two or three times. So from the months of May through July, we had some pretty good movies that came out. What were your favorite movies this summer? Mine were The Avengers, Brave, Ted, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and The Dark Knight Rises.

So many amazing movies this summer! (I'm so poor now!) I really enjoyed Avengers, Spider-Man and Dark Knight Rises. I'm a super hero freak. But after I saw Dark Knight Rises, I was obsessed, I bought Dark Knight and watched it after. Now I want to go watch DKR again! XD
I thought Brave was alright, but not my favorite. I didn't really like the plot but it deserves a something. I love Pixar movies but I wished Pixar would do a better job with their movies in the future.

But, this would have the be my favorite part in Brave: "I don't want to get married! I want to stay single and let my hair flow in the wind as I ride through the glen, firing arrows into the sunset!"

Avengers, Spiderman, Dark Knight Rises, and Ted off the top of my head. Only movie I watched more than once was Avengers.

Avengers, Men in Black 3, Amazing Spider-Man, and Dark Knight Rises. They were the only summer movies I saw and I quite enjoyed all of them lol.

They don't really count, but I saw My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service subbed/35mm at the Gene Siskel Film Center. That was a cool experience

The Avengers was my favorite by far. I enjoyed The Dark Knight Rises as well. Brave was alright, but the animation was absolutely gorgeous.

I liked The Dark Knight Rises best (saw it twice), but The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-man were also great. Admittedly these were the only movies I saw, but I would like to see MiB3 at some point.

If you only see one movie this summer, make it Moonrise Kingdom.

The Dark Knight Rises, Spider-Man, and The Avengers in that order.The Hunger Games was also a very well done book-to-movie adaptation. And Brave was really cute.

Good season for super hero movies.

Brave was decent. I think it was Pixar's attempt to move into an even deeper territory than Up and was sort of lost to the audience.

the mother being the actual hero? A take on the mother daughter bond in a non tacky sense? Give Pixar credit for trying to go into deeper content without losing themselves.

I think The Dark Knight Rises was both a hit and miss. It felt disjointed at times and sometimes it took itself far too seriously.

Did we need two "Bruce Wayne becoming batman" sections? Had nolan just started when Batman awoke in the prison and flashbacked to how he got there, it wouldn't have felt so damn slow.

Nolan did a decent job making Bane cool. The best part was when Baelish was on screen for like, less than 5 minutes and you could here a little nerd gasp out of the theater.

The only film I've really enjoyed recently was "Bernie" which was released around here late spring and is due for a DVD release this month. The style of it alone is was worth the price of admission. Jack Black in a (semi) serious role acting beside the great Shirley MacLaine was just pure awesome.

I don't go to the movies very often, but I did get a chance to see Brave and Total Recall. Brave was something I wanted to see since the first trailer came out, convinced my boyfriend to take me to see it, and honestly I loved it. I really like that Disney isn't giving up on the princess genre of films like they originally said they were going to do after Tangled, and I hope this one convinces them to create another one.

Total Recall I actually had no interest in and never saw the original, but my boyfriend wanted to just for the heck of it. For an action movie, it was all right, but I think with the overall storyline and such I was left more confused than anything else. But maybe because I hadn't seen the original, or maybe because it's meant to be a mindfudgery? I don't know, really.

Well the Total Recalls (I'm going to assume the reboot is) are based of Philip K manpart works, so yeah it's gonna be weird. lol I really want to see that one tho. (the reboot) I was a kid when I seen the original and it creeped me out. lol

Also heck yeah ninjajedi. The 1st expendables was okay, but this one has to be epic lol

Ah, my bad. I watched it at a cheap theater that's known for showing movies that other theaters have stopped showing, so it felt like a summer movie to me.

The first movie was GREAT! Having the entire 2nd half of the movie as a huge action scene was a wise choice. As long as the sequel doesn't try to be serious in any way, there's no way it can be bad! I will be extraordinarily happy if Chuck Norris does something ridiculous or if there is some sort of slow motion screaming scene with Jean Claude Van Damme.

(OMG. Absolute hands down favorite of 2012. I've lost track of how many times I've seen this now. Honestly, the best I've seen in a long time (Whedon always delivers! True story). *flailing with lack of real words to explain all these feels*)

- Prometheus
(Rather thought-provoking if you look deeper than "prequel to Alien" & look at meanings and moral implications. In a way, we kinda brought it on ourselves, and you can kinda see why they might've wanted us gone. Also, David as a metaphor is kinda badass.)

- Bourne Legacy
(If you watch the first 3 & notice/pause to read the pictures & text details, you will notice all these interconnected, in some cases, seemingly throwaway, little things hinted at, easily expanded on later, and/or now being somewhat brought to light (see the headache comment, & freeze-frame all pages of the reporter's notes). I found the change in style, action & doing things to suit the new character/personality, as the frenzied fight-centric jarring camera style suited Jason Bourne's amnesia. He's more than just a science project, and the film is more than just a "badass fighting/action film". Just wish other reviewers would look past the action surfaces and see all the wonderfulness that lies beneath. :/)

I have yet to see The Dark Knight Rises, or Total Recall. Otherwise, it seems so far to have been a summer of the movies (especially considering I rarely see summer blockbusters outside Harry Potters!).

Confirmed: I loved The Expendables 2. Jean Claude Van Damme a bad guy? Chuck Norris making a Chuck Norris joke? Non-stop absurd action scenes with all the greatest action stars together!? I'm glad they embraced the action movies of old. Movies these days are all so serious... what's the deal!?
