Fire Emblem: Kakusei, or Awakening, is getting an English 3DS release? I hope I am not the only one excited about this ^^;

I'm really interested in how they've included basically every sub-system in the entire series, including the branching classes that haven't been seen since Sacred Stones.

I knew about this for a good while now (Reggie went to IGN a lil after E3 and pretty much told them this was going to happen. They just didn't announce it at E3)

I personally can't wait. I love Fire Emblem.

also, word of advice, Nintendo is posting character profiles in the 3DS Facebook page, but a LOT of the comments have spoiled a lot of things. If you don't know anything about the story and don't wanna be spoiled, then avoid the comments. So far those who have been shown are:

Chrom: The protagonist, the prince of the Holy Kingdom of Ylisse and descendant of the legendary Hero-King Marth (yeah, it takes place in Archanea thousands of years later). Wields the sword Falchion and leads a police force called the Shepherds

Avatar: A player-customized class. They start the game as a Strategist that uses both swords and magic. You can choose their appearance and what is their best and worst stat.

Lissa: Chrom's younger sister; a tomboyish cleric

Frederick: Chrom's lieutenant who is a strict teacher. Joins as a Great Knight

Marth: A strange masked figure who has the same name as Chrom's ancestor.

Emmeryn: The holy ruler of Ylisse. A kind, gentle woman.

Anyway, given I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan (FE4 and FE5 being my all time favorites), I gotta pick up Awakening once it drops in America.

I was hoping on the Heroes of Light and Shadow to be released to the US so I could finally try that feature, but hey,

Awakening looks even more awesome, and I am excited to try out these new characters!

First female in the Red and Green Cavaliers Archetype. A very tough, tomboyish woman with a LOT of fangirls.

Also, there are quite a few systems that have been added into the game.

Class Change - Returns from Shadow Dragon, but heavily modified. Characters have a finite number of classes they can change into. For example, Chrom starts as a Lord, but can switch into an Archer or a Cavalier. The only exception to this is the Avatar which can change into ANY generic character class. Requires the use of a Change Seal which can be bought in shops.

Skills - Return from Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn; characters can equip up to five skills in order to customize play styles. Each class has unique skills to learn.

Branching Classes - Returns from Sacred Stones; most classes have two promotions.

New Classes -

Strategist - Avatar-only class; can use tomes and swords. Promotes to Grandmaster
Battle Cleric/Monk - Promotion of the Cleric/Monk/Troubadour; allows the use of axes in addition to staves
Trickster - Promotion of the thief; allows the use of staves in addition to sword and their typical thief utilities
Dark Pegasus - Promotion of Pegasus Knight; can use tomes and lances
Dark Knight - Promotion for Mages or Dark Mages; ride horses and can use swords
Griffon Knight - Promotion for Wyvern Riders; can only use axes

There are a couple other new classes, but I'll refrain from posting them as I'm not sure whether to count them as spoilers or not.

World Map - Also returns from Sacred Stones

Dual System - When a character enters battle with a friendly unit next to them, the friendly unit appears in the fight acting as support, giving a boost to stats. They may also enact an attack of their own, or even guard the character. Characters with stronger bonds between them have a better chance of initiating a Dual Attack or Guard.
