Sign in Issues
#1
Posted 10 July 2012 - 07:06 AM
Good morning forum-ites,
We are aware of the issues preventing sign in to the Anime Central Forums. We are working quickly to find a solution as it seems there is an issue with our SSL certificate, which is never easy to fix. The SSL certificate keeps your data safe as it travels from your browser to our servers.
We are working to find a solution as fast as possible so we appreciate your patience.
Thank you.

Just a note:
I'm getting "revoked certificate" errors whenever I try to sign in with IE on my Win7 (IE9) and Vista systems (IE8), but so far have not been blown off my XP with Firefox system and I'm still logged in from the time I signed in about a week or so ago(I have not had a reason, yet, to try to re-sign in on Firefox). I'm reluctant to sign-out on my Firefox browser for fear of not being able to sign in again (yes I'm a coward...).
Is there something different with Firefox (or other browsers) that has keep me happily logged on? Are Chrome or Safari users having similar problems or no problems? Would loading a "backup browser" be an idea if the problem is limited to IE?

obakasan,
The error used to present itself on Google Chrome only that our certificate was invalid. We chalked it up to a Chrome bug because I was getting the same error on some of my SSL protected server management consoles (My MacBook running latest Mac OSX and Chrome showed the revoked page but all other machines and browsers would let me in). We thought it was all a bug with Chrome because no other browser was having issues, but in fact, it's a flaw with all other browsers and Chrome was doing what it was supposed to be doing, warning us that the certificate could be hijacked.
Update to all:
We've submitted re-registration for our SSL certificate and an inquiry as to why it was revoked (we had it paid for the next two or so years, I believe). We expect things to return to normal soon.
Thanks all again for your patience.

Hello all,
A small update: It seems Firefox and Internet Exploder are able to confirm a Security Exception to the invalid certificate and bypass, but Google Chrome still has issues showing a 'revoked security certificate' without an option to bypass. Safari has a similar issue. We recommend using either Firefox or IE in lieu of Google Chrome if you would like to sign into the ACen forums until we get the issue fully solved.
Thanks again.

I am still unable to sign in using IE8 as of Wednesday 11th July (evening) on my home Vista system (same "revoked" notice). But my IE/XP based system, and the IE8 Vista system at work, gets me the sign-in screen just fine. (Have not tried signing in on my XP Firefox as yet as I'm still signed in from earlier.) Am I missing something? Cache problem?

Hello all,
the issue should be back to normal. Logging in as normal on all browsers should function as expected.
Thank you for your patience.

Currently on my cellphone:
So I Signed Out by accident and I can't Sign In on my laptop, Mozilla Fox said Untrusted Connection. That only happens when my Modem is acting crazy. I have gotten the same message when I check on Twitter when the Modem is acting up. Right now the Modem is acting fine. I can still Sign In on my iPhone 3.

That is indeed interesting.
Signing out and in on all my devices and browsers except my MacBook's Chrome (Safari works fine) seems to work. Standby while I see what I can do.

Yes! Finally after checking in to see if I can sign-in on the laptop: I tried today and finally I can Sign-in. YAY no more having to use the iPhone and laptop at the same time.
