Oddly enough, during lunch on Friday I looked at the radar and saw a big cluster of storms around Chicago and thought that it would stay up north and move across northern ohio, not thinking much of it at the time.

Lo and behold, it morphs into a bow-styled storm and hits central and southern ohio like a steam locomotive. It's almost like when the winds from Hurricane Ike came and tore through the state.

Both of those instances, I just happened to be staying in Cincinnati, Ohio for work-related activities. Both times, hotel lost its power.

In this case, my hotel lost power 15 minutes after I arrived. I got to see it barrel in from my view on the 11th floor window. Even this morning the hotel still had no power and was relying on glowsticks for barely any lighting.

We got hit with 92mph headwinds and rain. 50k without power including myself. I'm staying at a friends house most of the day today. Hopefully will have power on by tonight.

Carbondale got hit with one of these back in 2009. Luckily for me, I was at ACen when it happened.

Rain but it really didn't stop people from setting off fireworks early or shooting in general.

The power was out before the rain in the morning. From what I have no idea but it always happens in this area. Then hours later it rained, then it stopped and felt like it was in the 100s, then it rain really hard at night.

We got a gust front (~60mph winds) that came through because of that storm (no rain or lightning though). It kicked up a bunch of dust/debris from a nearby construction site and slammed it into the building where I work. The wind did some damage here and there (ripped a large limb from a tree at my parents' house; shattered a glass patio table at my grandma's; briefly knocked out power to several stoplights).

I just wish it would rain. We haven't had any since sometime in May.

April of last year Southern IL got so much rain that entire towns were flooded. This year, we have the opposite problem.

We've been lucky so far in Montana. There's a bad one burning in the southeast portion of the state, but we're bracing for the mountains to get hit. We actually got good snowpack this year, so maybe we'll dodge the bullet.

Finally have power back on again after 3+ days without it. Interesting to see people react without electricty. Some go crazy, and some use it to finally DO things together like a family again. I've never seen so many familys actually doing stuff together outside at the same time in forever. It was kinda nice to see.

This storm didn't effect us, but we got hit with a real bad storm on Sunday at noon with 90MPH gusts that tore some shingles off the roof and took out the power until 11PM last night. Monday morning it was estimated that 100K DuPage residents were without power, including us!

I live in a third floor apartment, so we had to vacate while our apt heated up to 90+. It is still 80 in here with the AC unit on full blast. We lost half of our groceries, but luckily saved all the important stuff like milk and lunch meats in our cooler.

We stayed the night with my in-laws, and in the morning came back to pack everything in a cooler and take my cat and our stuff back to the in-laws in case power wasn't going to be restored. my husband went to work, and at noon checked the apartment to find they had just turned it back on. So he let me know, and I came back to the apartment at 3PM yesterday with all our stuff just to find out they had shut it off again to provide more power to other areas with the estimate(lie) that it would be back on in a few hours. It was so hot even my poor cat was panting at one point! We couldn't open the windows because we had to leave for an appointment, and didn't know when the power would come back on... and there was no breeze anyway so it would have only made it hotter in here.

PRO TIP: If the power is out and the heat is unbearable like it is now, get a bunch of washcloths soaking wet with cold water and put them all over your body. That is how I cooled down enough to get some sleep last night. If you are especially hot then wrap the wet cold cloth around your neck.

Hopefully everyone has power now, or will it have it soon. No electricity coupled with these 90s temps is not good for anyone.

No power outages yet (we were out almost a week last year during those storms).

Anyway, I've been getting 90 weather hear and the night is always very cool (like around 60). We had a week of 103 which caused a lot of my grass to die.
No power outages! I had about 4 outages last year. I also remember during the storm last year, a lightning hit our wire which caused one of the trees in my backyard to get on fire. Then this really big tree was hit my lightning and landed onto the power cord which ended me up with no power for 5 days.
