Hey! So i am planning ahead for acen 2013...and I finally have a job were i can pay for things! WOO! anyway, I was looking at prices for the hyatt, from last year, and I saw there were suites...how much did they cost? and were they nice? how many people can fit into one suite? I have no idea if this question has been asked before, i usually dont ask questions on here...often, so if it is please point me in the right direction. I had a great time at acen 2012, the room i had was fine, but i was just curious. thanks y'all!

You usually have to wait until the room block opens but here are last year rates.

Single Occupancy: $ 175.00
Double Occupancy: $ 175.00
Triple Occupancy: $ 175.00
Quadruple Occupancy: $ 175.00

Suites are 50% off the convention rack rates.

I have no idea how big is a suite but when I did board in the Hyatt we always had a Double/triple and it was about as big as a studio. So a Suite might be bigger or around the same size?

You won't really know until October/November of this year.

Well there you go! Use the prices I gave you to compare what the prices might be for 2013!

The rack rate is the full, room rate and does not contain any discounts. The rack rate also does not take into account any taxes or surcharges. So it's 50% off of the rack rate, which could be pricey or not. Also the ACen discount might not be under the rack rate, so you would have to call the Hyatt and see for yourself when the room rate comes out this year.

If they do reach 200 you can do what I'm doing and become involved into the various free room hotel programs if you haven't already. That way you can probably earn yourself into free nights.

If the Hyatt shares points you could always get your relatives/friends who travel and just ask them nicely to donate points into your account and BAM free nights.

Same thing with Hilton hotels, like Double tree and the Embassy.

Sadly this isn't working for me unless I do it myself. Nobody in my family that I know of goes to hotels unless it's a family gathering and I only know one who uses a credit card.

On the hotel suites, the smallest is the Plaza, which is a living room area with a couch and a desk and some sitting chairs, and then a king room semi-detached. It's about the size of an efficiency apartment.


The largest available is the VIP (There's a Presidential suite, but we already have that booked.) The VIP is a king room, a 'living room' with a long sectional couch, and the suite area is a big gathering and dining area that is about 15ft by 40 ft. It is HUGE and we use some of these for meeting rooms and bases of operations.

The hotel has a bunch of other suite types too- the panorama..a two-floor suite with a spiral stair and a gorgeous view up in the main tower, the executive, one floor but the size of two hotel rooms, and three or four other bilevel suite types whose names escape me.

The suite prices ranged last year from around $250/night (Plaza) to $750/night (VIP) at our half-rack deal. (Yes, that means the VIP suite at rack rate was $1500/night.)

By the way, I THINK the room rate is either 175 or 178 for 2013. That is not an official announcement, just memory I'm looking for my copy of the contract. I know we were negotiating to try and keep it from growing too rapidly.

Guessing it's about the size of a Studio apartment, which is a decent size. The problem is I have no idea how many beds are in a room, VIP/Quad/etc. The one we had years ago only had one-two beds.

So 250 isn't bad if it's really big.
