That would be wrong.... DEAD WRONG!!! LOL JK. No, I was only Pee-Wee Herman all day on Thursday and half of the day Friday. On Saturday I was Two Face from morning time until 5 PM (when the Batman Photoshoot took place) and then the rest of the night I was Danny Phantom. :) All-day on Sunday I was Danny Phantom, lol. Three cosplays can be overkill but very fun. Next year I'm going to "try" and do three but I'm going to have more expenses soon since I'm getting an apartment with a friend. My plan is to do one high quality budget costume, one that's a little less expensive (but good), and then digging one up from the past to bring back. :D I will at least do one new costume next year, mark my words. LOL

Ah! I've failed D: When you said 3 cosplays, I assumed you were Two Face all day Friday since you were at the ball, then I saw you as Danny on Sunday so figured that left Pee-Wee for Saturday xD And three cosplays is the best :D I normally do three, but since I was at the Crystal Ball Friday and the modeling show Saturday and would have to change for both of those, I decided to wear the same cosplay for the remaining hours of Friday and Saturday xD I think 3 is a good number...I can't understand how some people say they bring 5+ to cons! xD
ACen 2013!
Friday: Atelier Pierrot Fashion Show Model (8am-2pm), Levy [Fairy Tail] (2pm-5pm), Vaporeon [Pokemon] (5pm-end)
Saturday: Mint Neko Fashion Show Model (8am-2pm), Vaporeon [Pokemon] (2pm-end)
Sunday: Levy [Fairy Tail] (all day)
Possibly Houndoom [Pokemon] part of Sunday.

And here I am going "Only 3?" I brought six. And did in fact spend some time in all of them Friday through Sunday... I guess that's why I don't worry about people thinking I'm lazy or repetitive even if I'm reusing my costumes - it's sometimes hard to find any one of my costumes at a con I bring it to, if you don't catch me at the right time. XD

I can only do three because half the time I stay in my cosplay for most of the day, my sister changes because she doesn't like makeup on her face and just prefers not to dress up too much. I finally got her to do three next year. Hopefully, in a few years we can go to other cons. *crosses fingers*

You are awesome; I can barely do three. I can't go back and forth to the hotel room to change and mingle/have fun/etc. I tried with four and it was hard x.x

Are you going as Wild tiger-san in 2013 or another con?

Heh, in my case I brought three of the costumes more or less SPECIFICALLY so I'd have something to wear to a few photoshoots - and another because some friends were doing a group and some private photoshooting in one of my old fandoms, and I really wanted to be part of it. Which means I wound up wearing a few costumes only for a couple of hours each, and wasn't actually out around the con all that much in one despite wearing it all of Sunday. Good thing I wore it between costumes for awhile on Saturday too. XD

I'm pretty well committed to bringing a few different variations on Kotetsu to Otakon, probably including the Wild Tiger TopMag suit (because we have some episode recreation plans XD). Which was debuted at Youmacon last year, so I'm probably not taking it there unless people ask me to, but probably some other variant Kotetsu, possibly the black underarmor. I'm sort of hoping I can work up to the full armored Wild Tiger suit by next ACen...

LOL it's all good. And yeah, 3 is my limit, lol. I have many friends who do 6 cosplays I talked to one girl who does 8 cosplays at a con!!! Honestly, if I had my own Hotel Room maybe I could do that but I share it with 3 other people on average so I think it would be overcrowding the room (and my car!) if I did more than 3. That or I personally would have to half-###ed costumes like "L" or cheesy things like "Hey I'm Leonard from Big Bang Theory" by wearing his clothes and not doing anything with my hair, lol. I'm going to try and do three next year but it may only be two based on budget.

But in all seriousness to 4+ cosplayers, I envy your time and commitment to the craft. If you can afford and are comfortable doing it, I truly envy you guys/gals.

You are pretty darn awesome xD Usually I stay in one costume the entire day. This was the first year that I changed during the day (but Friday and Saturday) So looking at costume changes I guess you could say I wore 5 cosplays this year (though 1 was a repeat worn fri/sat and the other was for the fashion show haha). And I can now see how it's possible. Not the easiest thing, but doable xD (And I didn't have a hotel room so I was changing in the parking garage in my underwear xD) But personally, I think I'll just stick to 3 per con unless I have a really big reason to do more, just easier that way haha.

I agree, why would you put that much money into a costume to only wear it once.
Especially if you love it.
Why would you bother to cosplay it if you don't love it.

This sooooo hard. I still wear costumes I made in 2006! Love the characters to no end still~

I was curious because I thought about being Ivan (Origami cyclone,) in his street clothes with the giant ninja star ._.

But I had no idea since:

I'm pretty tall (5'9 1/2) for Ivan

I would be the only black and tall Ivan at Acen!

I wanted to do Origami cyclone normal but I had no idea how to get the full set of armor, with a removable helmet!

EDIT: This would be the only year that I wouldn't reuse cosplays from previous years. I used to be the only black America from Hetalia in PS two+ years running, but due to my downfall of the anime/manga (and some of the fanbase from ff.net,) I'm slowly getting off from the series and more into other shows/video games.

I might do Swiss/Russia instead.

I'll recosplay any character I feel like. I don't spend (in some cases) years researching exactly what I want to wear it once or twice.

Nor do I care. If I love a character enough to cosplay it, it means something to me.

This, though with time I aim to make better versions of said costumes.

If it's not ready by con, I prefer to wait until next time to wear it, rather than rush and do a mediocre job. I prefer high quality fabrics that not only match color, but texture, and logical availability to the time period/setting (ie, a ball gown won't be plain cotton, nor a kimono wool, nor Link's tunic(s) satin). Those fabrics tend to cost quite a bit more, even at discounted rates, so if I'm gonna drop that kind of coin, I'm gonna make it WELL worth it, and done /right/. Vinyl leatherette that looks legit for making boots/boot covers (as leather is by far out of my price range, & isn't necessarily cruelty-free), synthetic suede or heavy cottons for tunics (applicable to time eras and settings), home carved & assembled wood for swords & shields (double-thick foam board standing in in a pinch for strictly decorative shields), semi-precious stones/beads for the jewelry & parts they represent (unless specified as something else, or irregularly shaped & can be made of opaque clay), proper metal for armour suits (the proper material, and pleasant CLANK CLANK sound; note -when available and slowly made, over time; else, shaped PVC painted to mirror shine and potentially/hopefully incorporating at least some metal), etc.

Now, seeing as I am determined to some day make this (from this here):

I must note that I am determined to wear that thing at every given opportunity, and whenever the whim strikes outside con season. If I need to learn how to weld and will need to confront a crippling fear of flame to make it, and make it RIGHT, I am going to wear that thing forever, and with pride. Plus the idea of shopping for new clothes and running errands in it is just too sweet to pass up. If it weren't for the fact I intend to use metal/sharp things, I would sleep in the dang thing too, lmao; most badass mid-night pottycalls EVER.

I somewhat feel where you are coming from.

I try not to wear the same cosplay twice in the same con weekend. I feel that I want to show off as many as I can.
However, it does not annoy me if people wear the same one all weekend. I think that they get something I don't - more packing space and less worries about making sure that everything is set for all 3+ cosplays. Plus, they have to worry less about changing and more about having fun.

On the other hand, I do not mind personally, reusing a cosplay to the same convention. Now maybe it's because I only attend 1 convention a year (I'm a little broke and cannot afford to go out of state to other cons and for the past 4 years was away from Chicago and unable to attend the others held here) I think that it is best to re-wear a cosplay until it feels worn out. For example - my first cosplay was Kukaku Shiba from Bleach. I bought the cosplay and wore it about 3 times. I loved it and still do but it was a little too small to begin with and only got smaller as I .....developed. I had to retire it. In fact, most of my cosplays are this way. I did Edward Elric I think 2 or 3 times until the wig (a cheap last minute halloween wig) fell apart and the jeans I was using no longer fit. He is semi retired because I like the comfy outfit and have new black jeans and can buy another wig.

Basically, I like to wear the cosplays over and over again to show them off, to save money and to save time. Plus I also personally feel that by wearing older ones Fri and Sun (the "eh" days) I can bring attention to my main cosplay which I always wear on Saturday. (I think Saturday is the biggest day, when the most people are there and more pictures will be taken so I like to debut my masterpiece on that day.) Also, by wearing the same cosplay over and over again, you get people who recognize you and may meet up with old friends who are con buddies or who may only have known you for that cosplay.

I think it's fine. There are quite a few cosplays that turn out to be an absolute success. We have to ultimately remember that not everyone has hundreds or thousands of dollars to shell out on a new cosplay per day.

I also don't tend to cosplay. I wear Gothic Aristocrat or dress in Kimono during the con.

I definitely rewear them, but I also like to bring at least one new cosplay to each con I attend. (:

J see noting wrong with wearing a cosplay more than once. As I work the cons I attend I also keep the cosplay down to a whisper rather than roar with them. I organized my wardrobe so that I can slide in or out of cosplay and yet still enjoy the con.

For me, it depends on how much I like the character and the outfit. Some cosplays I've spent over $100 on and only wore once. Others I've thrown together for much less and worn it several times. I'm going as Rukia again because I really like the character and I feel in a way she's very much like myself. Sure she's probably one of the most common ones you'll see and her outfit isn't extravagant. But little accessories (or in my case a big honkin released zanpakuto that my friend made) can completely change the unoriginality of an outfit and make it your own.

But yeah, I try to incorporate a new costume every year to stretch my imagination and my limitations. I see it more as a challenge to myself then a rule of thumb. Some years I can do it, some years (like this one) I can't.

I rewear them! After all the time/money/effort put into making them, there's no way I'd only wear them once. I've also got nothing against wearing the same cosplay during multiple days of the con/to the same con again - why not, if it's fun to wear?

Like all cosplayers, cosplay is a way to express your love for a specific character.
I don't change my cosplay every convention because i'm sick of them, I adore them!
I make new cosplays because I have way to much love for so many characters! There aren't enough minutes in a con weekend to show my love for them all at once!
I feel like if I bring back Ciel Phantomhive or Kyoya Otori, I'm picking favorites over Sailor Saturn or something equally important to me.

And you better be one special/expensive cosplay to kick The Doctor out of my cosplay line-up....

I think with how much work that is often put into it, it'd be a shame to just wear it once and be done with it. Unless your costume is super spectacular and inspires a lot of awe, I doubt anyone would have the memory to recognize you having worn the same outfit two or even more years in a row. I mean if you'd rather not do that it's cool. I just don't think most if any would notice if ya did~

I tend to make a new one per con, and wear it the whole weekend (Fabreze is my friend XD. I'm terrified of washing them). But that's only because, ideally, I want to portray a new character for each con. I love mixing it up.
Another reason I don't really wear my costumes more than once, however, is that no one seems to take my picture in them, or even recognize who I am. I usually get completely ignored. D:. I always strive to make my cosplay the most successful it can be, so I try again with new costumes. Though I'm NOT sure why no one likes my old ones. >_<;
That doesn't mean that I will NEVER wear my costumes again, though. If I don't have any ideas, or if I just feel like it, I may very well wear them again. I do still like each character I portrayed (favorite characters tend to stick with me), so it's not outside the realm of possibility. I put way too much effort into costumes to just abandon them flat.
Attending ACen since 2002. :).
