Lord Death cosplay

So I plan to go as Lord Death to Anime Expo, but I can't think of a good design for the robe. Should I use something to hold the shape or should I just cut it and let it hang? Any ideas or suggestions?

Would this be Lord Death from Soul Eater? If so I have a design for that :3
