Hey everyone!
Anyone going to Anime Expo this year? Its the next biggest Anime convention and it will be my first time going. Been saving up for awhile now and want to experience it once in my lifetime. Anyone else planning to ever go to this convention in the future?

I've heard a lot about this one, would love to go! San Diego Comic Con would be number one for me (although it tends to sell out in like 10 minutes.) Maybe I'll look into this event next year...

I plan on going to this convention eventually, after I complete my lulu cosplay. 2014 is my goal.

I keep feeling this is nothing more than a pipe dream. They sell out so fast it's unreal.

Yeah IDK about SDCC. At this rate I think if I wanted to go to the Superbowl (which I'm not really interested, lol) I'd have a better shot going there than SDCC. Is Anime Expo this bad? Do they have an attendance cap as well?

If they have another Vocaloid concert like last year, then definitely attending again. Still need to check out the Volks store there too.

Hmm.... let me repost a review I placed in comparing ACen to AX.

===
Since ACen and AX are both cons I go to every year, I can tell you that both have a very different feel to each other. Where do I begin...

There are two things that I would say makes AX more exciting than ACen:
- The prop restriction is so much more open allowing wing spans of 14' maximum when walking around. More to the point, each wing must not exceed 7' when closed or folded in when not standing around/posing for pictures. As unfeasible and unweildly as that sounds, you can do it if you like.
- MOAR COSPLAYERS! There is such a huge number of cosplayers that makes it so much more exciting and thrilling to be there as either a photog or cosplayer.

The two things I like about ACen over AX are:
- It's a much more mature environment which makes AX feel like it's more laid back and easy going.
- The parties are much more happening rather than at AX. The music is more edgier at the soap bubble and synergy.

It has been a general concensus between my sister and I that the cosplayers in AX show more work and are all around put together better. However, the cosplayers at ACen have a greater variety of costumes and much more laid back.

Much like ACen, there are two showroom floors (lobbies) where the cosplayers hang out at with one being the primary showroom floor. AX's showroom floors are well used with the primary one always having a large number of cosplayers at most if not all times.

[...]

If there is more you'd like to know, feel free to ask.

But with the X-Games going on at the same time and location, it is sure to be hectic and crazy. In all honesty, if I didn't have family in LA, I would've passed this year.

Thanks for the share of info! Since I have family/friends in LA, I might try to go next year. I'm going to LA in a few weeks. Too bad I didn't decide to do it during AX. Oh well. LOL

That was pretty helpful thank you! I can not wait its a week and a half away. I'm also excited that this year there turning 21 so they have a 21 Lounge where they serve drinks at the convention. The two big main events I'm going to see are the AMV contest on friday night and Animetals first us concert.

I was going to go to AX this year but unfortunately it's the same weekend as Anime Midwest and as much fun as AX would be. I would rather go to AM with all my friends then AX with just one friend....So I'm going to Comic-Con instead. Good trade I think
