ACen's 2013 dates are May 17-19, 2013. Pack your bags!

Hotel blocks traditionally open close to when Reg opens for the year, which will be a few months from now. Hope to see you at the show!

Actually this is around my birthday so I may or may not go, depending.

With the later dates, it definitely gives my friends and I a little more time to prepare. So I guess we'll find out closer to the con if we are definitely going or not. XD

When you reserve a hotel a year ahead, how soon is your credit or debit card charged for it?

It depends entirely on the hotel (and possibly how you make your reservations).

The Hyatt generally doesn't charge anything until about a month before your stay, at least when I've reserved through the con's room block. The Embassy doesn't charge anything until I check out, when I've reserved through the con's room block. I just reserved rooms at two other conventions over the past week, through their con blocks, and one charged me nothing, the other charged me one night's stay immediately. I'm not sure how other hotels do it, or whether that changes if you're not reserving specifically for the room blocks (which I'm assuming are not open yet, and won't be for months).

tl;dr: Wait for the room block to open, because you'll get a good deal then, and how much you're charged when will vary based on where you're staying.

So excited it's in May again! No finals, no school no nothing!!!! ^_^ And extra time to get prepared. I hope to do a panel this year so I'm so excited!!!! ^_^ And May usually has a tiny bit kinda more predictable weather than April ;3.

Well, I'm thinking of reserving at the Hilton Garden Inn since they let you reserve up to a year ahead, and they have a free (24 hour?) shuttle bus that goes to the convention center. You get the lower ($87/night) rate the earlier you reserve your room. They're right past the McDonald's and Rivers Casino, and they've got free parking. I just wanting to make sure I wouldn't be charged until September 15th because that's when I'm collecting the shares of my roommates.

May 19th is mine. That might be the ONLY reason to come back to ACen next year, to celebrate it with friends in the area.

Me too!!! Im still debating whether to do Sasuke (during his fight with Gaara) or Ulqiorra( Pre-resurrection during fight with Ichigo with his garment ripped and exposing his number)...still working on drafts and thinking about it though...

I first started coming to ACen because it was around my birthday in mid-May, and have always considered it my big awesome geeky birthday party with thousands of strangers. So this year it's all weird because my mom's not calling me up and going "So when are we finally going to get together so we can bake you a cake and give you presents?" ...Because my birthday isn't for another week, let alone already past. (In fact, one of the last things I did before leaving town this year was go give Mom HER birthday present. XD)
