I like you folks so much, we should hang out more I say! But what ever shall we do????

I'm glad you asked. I've had a chance to talk to a few other members we tossed around the idea of doing a trip out to Six Flags Great America up in Gurnee, IL. How fun would that be right? We can ride roller coasters together and find out who the REAL wussies are amongst us and eat cotton candy all day until our stomachs hurt so bad that we will be praying for death! Now if you aren't quite the adventure seeker like myself, I'm sure there are some nice gentle tea cups you can ride or something. Anyways...

Now there are 2 possible options for how this day would work out.

1) We do a day trip. We can find some common spot and try carpool as many folks as possible and come back late that night or...

2) Do an overnight trip. We drive in the morning the same as option 1 but get some cheap hotels in the area so we can lulz the night away and leave come morning. If some don't wanna do overnight then separate vehicles can be taken obviously.

COSTS:

Typically admission to park is around $50-$60 bucks if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure you've seen those Coke cans with like $10 bucks off so it might not be THAT bad.

Hotels in the area are cheap IF we go that route. I did a quick search and found rooms for under $100. So if we split them up that's like what... $5 dollars a person? Just kidding, but seriously...

Then chip in for gas if you aren't the one driving cause ya know, you don't wanna be a douch and all.

So ya, this would clearly be on a weekend (SAT) since it would more than likely fit most peoples schedules easier. Post in the thread to let me know if this something worth pursuing or not. Dates are very flexible so let's see what weekend works best for everyone!

They got rid of the old Batman ride for the new one. Otherwise it's been a long while since I've been. LETS DO THIS!

place is ridiculously clean and, the photos do not do it justice, but the rooms are spacious as hell.

^ Haha... yes, that was actually what I meant. My finger must have slipped when I was typing that before. Regardless, I would party it up in the Tropical Paradise! Also, the Gold's Gym pass for staying there is pretty sweet.

there was a deal fri/sat night for 99.night, but you needed to do both nights, otherwise i think its like 115 or something


edit:too lazy to check the site to confirm current prices.

Oh yes, and themes are only the first floor. if you want you can get a regular room on floor 2 or 3.

Also looks like you can order tickets to 6 flags from them for $35 and pay at checkin.

So how busy does SFGA get on a typical mid-summer weekend? Like in, typical rollercoaster/ride wait times.

For myself, when I go to an amusement park (cedar point or kings island, both get super packed) I try to go midweek so I can avoid long, skin-scorching lines.

STVO, you could just come out for the day (utilize the parking where ever we all stay) and go home when you need to.
the crazy hotel in question is like, a 10 min walk away and due to the parking fees there ( I wanna say it's like 20 or something insane) it would save much the monies.

Also, if our group is decent do we inquire for a discount? Do they do those?

I'll try my best! Trust me I love a good day at Six Flags! I'm just finally getting a place of my own (well for rent) and have to weigh my upcoming expenses, but if the money is good and I can get the time off from work (least of my worries) I'll go! Now the question is if I come in cosplay.

According to the website, they only do group discounts for groups with 100+ people. We can get this many!..... right?

Scared me a bit, as the original Batman is a rollercoaster landmark and the new one isn't as thrilling. They got rid of Iron Wolf.

I haven't been there in several years. Depending on the day, I might do this.
