so ya sony is making a smash bros like game with their charaters, it looks good and will buy a PS3 for it, but it really looks like smash with a sony skin.

oh it a rip off, there is no hidding this, some sony fans here may try to come up with stuff like this type of game been around forever, no it smash bros, the movement, the way you kill people, it feels like a indie game dev made their own smash bros becuase they want one now and not 3 years into wiiu lifespan. sure crossover fighters is about as old as the even king of fighters, but this game really have the style and feel of smash bros. and smash was petty orignal at the time, and still is since the only game that plays like smash is melee and brawl.

but it does look good and if anyone that have a good chunk of charaters and history outside of nintendo, then it's sony, microsoft seem to make very little (halo, frosa, maybe gears) and maybe a few 3rd parties can pull it off like sega or capcom, but their do their own crossover games like sega racing and VS capcom.

still i want keven buttler to be in this game so nintendo can return fire with lucas from the wizzerd that shoot radacal laserz from his power glove.

also will this game be like smash that it will be labeled a "*insert game here* game* like how peoplecall smash bros a mario game becuase mario is in it ignoring the fact there is also a ton a kirby, pokemon and zelda charaters.

eeeeyeah, that's a pretty shameless ripoff. It doesn't even look like it's trying to put a spin on things. I can't help but feel underwhelmed, especially since Sony's roster of characters isn't exactly huge. They don't have anyone I would really call "iconic" whereas Nintendo literally has DOZENS of characters like that.

This is true, but it'll still be fun (for me at least) to play a few characters from games I love, iconic or not.

^ Nintendo has tons of "iconic" characters because they rarely ever come up with anyone new. All of their main characters have been around for decades pretty much.

Or they do have new characters, but none of them are really all that special.I'm interested to see the final character roster of this game.

The only RPG game that was developed by Sony or any of its in-house developers is Legend of Dragoon. Any others?
But then again, are all the characters confirmed for this game only from Sony first-party companies?

I fail to see how that distracts from the issue at hand. Considering that they have enough icons to fill around 30+ slots in SSBB it's safe to say that Nintendo knows how to make characters that have personality or at least unique designs. Heck, Kid Icarus: Uprising alone has around ten characters that bleed personality. Sony, despite having been in the games industry for nearly twenty years now, has yet to create a character I would truly call iconic of the Playstation brand. They've always had a problem with creating ANY sort of mascot.

Mascot does not really equate to personality.Kirby, as cute and fun as the games are, lacks personality.Link is a "mascot" and he purposely does not have a personality.Sonic, as much as I love the games, is a very static character. Thumbs up, cheeky smile, gotta run!
There are plenty of characters from games I've played on Sony that have a ton of personality....they just lack the sort of cutesy factor that people tend to latch onto. Think about Microsoft...their only "iconic" character is Master Chief and that's only because the game he comes from is one of the best-selling games of all time....not because he simply oozes personality.

The gameplay video, the music, and the essential look definitely appears as a rip-off of Super Smash Bros. but as long as is good unlike that Konami game a friend mentioned, I'm totally down! The gameplay looks fun from the video! Also I'm liking the current list (courtesy of Wikipedia):

So very very happy that PaRappa, Sweet Tooth, Sly Cooper, and Kratos are in the game! The levels are looking cool such as the Buzz game and Patapon. Just be creative and it's all good!

There are many great Sony made games (it took them awhile because there were some duds from them in the PS1 era) but I entirely agree they aren't nearly as iconic as Nintendo. Honestly, except the characters I previously mentioned and the ones available in Battle Royale, I can't think of too many other characters that I would "die to see" in this game. Most would either be from Twisted Metal or characters like PJ Beary from PaRappa and other series listed, lol. Like if Smash Bros. 4 (or whatever it will be called) is announced I can probably list off more characters I'd like to see added to that than with this. If Microsoft did one, my list would be even smaller than the PlayStation one. That or I'd be saying a lot of third party characters.

Sony seems to have the right idea with this title though. I'm crossing my fingers for a fun game.

They did announce Smash 4. lol Just no info on it really. And I would love to see some Legend of Dragoon characters. They could be like the Marth and Roy for This game. They'll have neat perks as their dragoon forms and stuff. lol

I want to play it, can't wait for a demo or something. lol

Durr you're right! LOL. There's a Smash 4 for 3DS and WiiU, I'm just tired I guess. I almost want Crash Bandicoot to be in the game only because he was a relatively big part of Sony in the beginning. Kind of sucks that he is no longer PS console exclusive. Same with Spyro! He would have been an awesome addition.

It does seem funny and sorta lame to me. Also their list of characters starting off won't be as good SSBB I think. However one thing they might have that nintendo dropped the ball on. Future DLC. I haven't touched SSBB in years. Mostly cuz there isnt' anything more to do. Now if Sony can keep adding characters to the roster that are good I might be playing this game a heck of alot longer then SSBB.

Yo I just bought a Spryo game for 360. It came out in 2008, I think. It's very different than the Spyro games we loved from back in the day. There's much more of an emphasis on combat in this one. But it is two-player co-op, so me and the fiancee have been wrecking fools with our (still pixelated and weird-looking) flames of death.

The Wii isn't really built for DLC or even patches (The Wii-Wu doesn't look to be either, with its small hard drive).
But SSBB has a great modding scene. I've seen some pretty awesome skins and new characters (Sephiroth, Megaman, Naruto characters, etc..).
There's even new gameplay (Brawl -, Project M, etc..) and character teaks and overhauls.
I just hate how modding is practically non-existent on consoles, as big game companies can gouge us on some BS DLC.
