So this year was my 5th year going to ACEN, and as usual was an absolute blast! However I'm finding that I wish i had more people I could meet up with and hang out with during the con. Usually my friends and I form up a group of about 6 - 12 people going but out of tens of thousands of people going I should have more people I can associate with than that! So in effort to make friends and possibly organize some sort of gathering in between ACENs I'm looking to try and meet more Wisconsin con-goers! WHO IS INTERESTED?

That's what I made this thread up for. I want to try and coordinate with people to try and figure something out for those interested to meet up. I didn't see a thread started in regards to a meet-up in Wisconsin so I figured I would start on getting the ball rolling in regards to trying to plan it out. If people chip in we can probably even get a few rooms at a hotel and make a fun weekend out of it involving anime-watching, video games, and just general socializing between con-goers. A kind of 'meet and greet' event among those of us that head down every year.

I didn't know about Geek.kon x.x I feel like a loser. Going to that would probably be a lot of fun! I know there are probably a few more local conventions to go to, but I haven't heard of them. Going to the Geek.Kon home page i found out about No-brand con, which is this coming weekend. After ACEN though my wallet is pretty hungry so I know I won't be going to that >>; But maybe planning a meet for geek.kon, or even something among a smaller group of people on our own would be good. There are a number of possibilities that could work out.

I think this is a very good idea and not all of us can always go to cons to meet up with each other. I am definitely interested in the idea so please keep me posted.

I feel a good starting point would be to figure out where we could meet. Somewhere where it's not too far for people. TingleRotunda where in WI are you located? I'm in Milwaukee.

The main reason why I'd be interested is meeting new people and hanging with a group of friends that all share a love for cons and anime. It's awesome.
Already missing ACEN 2012 and being part of a world where no one judges you.

Not sure if you know of Kitsunekon (in appleton,WI) but thats not till march next year. x.x theres a bunch in wisconsin though which apparently i wasnt aware of either. If only there was enough cash to do them all lol.

Here is all the info you'll need for the meetup.

I'm from Neenah, WI. So depending on when and where it is, I'd be game for a meetup! Whenever I go to ACen I never seem to run into other Wisconsinites. I didn't even get that many from Wisconsin on StreetPass last year! So yeah, if this ever becomes a thing, I'd go! With maybe quite a few fellow congers who are either going to ACen with me or I know are going to ACen from my anime club.

I'd love to meet some people from Wisconsin going to ACen. This will be my first time at ACen and only my 3rd con. And as of right now, it looks like I don't know anyone esle who's going, my cosplay buddy is actually attending a different con around this time, so she wont be with me ><

I'm in the Milwaukee area (and Kenosha, I go to school there!) and I'd totaly be interested in a casual meet-up. Additionally, I want to throw in a quick plug for KappaKon and Concinnity, two Milwaukee cons that have joined up this year. KappaKon is an anime convention, and Concinnity is sci-fi, steampunk, and gaming. Its super fun and cheap, 'cause its really small. Its on April 13, at MSOE, and registration is only $10, $5 if you're a student. Check it out on Facebook- the concinnitycon page!
