Hopefully I'm asking this in the right place.

Despite this being my 5th ACen, this is the first time I'm planning on going to more than just photoshoots and signings. I was wondering where exactly props are not allowed to be taken.

Specifically, for the first time I'll be going to the Opening Ceremony, so I have no clues about the rules when it comes to that. Along with that, the group I'm going with might be hitting karaoke one night and possibly the gaming rooms and a panel or two.

As for the props that will be carried, if that is necessary to be known, is staff that is roughly 5 feet in height and possibly a wooden bat.

So, to be easier to understand, here is a list of the questions I have:

- When it comes to Opening Ceremony, what are the general rules? Are things like cameras, bags, and props allowed?
- Where are props not allowed besides in the concerts and masquerade?
- Are wooden bats allowed? (Just wanting to double check...)

My apologies if the questions I asked are answered somewhere else and I overlooked it. I just really would like to know beforehand when I should leave my prop in the hotel room.

I'm thinking off hand, Wooden bat wouldn't be ok. since it's already a weapon

Okay. I'm pretty sure bats are allowed, if in line with your cosplay. Say if you were cosplaying Keiichi from Higurashi, he commonly has a bat. So if you're cosplaying him, that would be fine to have a bat. Now if you're just some random person with a bat I don't think that would be okay lol

As long as the staff is your height or shorter, it will be fine. Also, wooden bats are okay to use as props, provided they aren't being used to hit anyone/thing.

Opening Ceremony, as far as I know, carries no restrictions on cameras, bags, or props.

Props are generally allowed everywhere except in those areas you mentioned - concerts and dances especially.

Oh, the staff only reaches to my eyes, so it is for sure shorter than me.

As for the bat, someone coming with me is going as Ness from EarthBound who apparently uses a bat as his main weapon (from my understanding anyway). If it's used inappropriately, it will be taken from him and put in the hotel room for the rest of the con.

Nope. Not unless it's taller than you, has blade-like edges or points, or you're hitting someone with it.

Silence* Shorter than the person using it, but the top is made of metal, which I was questioning if it was allowed.. Like this except the G looking thing is metal.

If you have a picture of the actual glaive in question that's coming to con, that would be a big help. The main issue is whether it has a dull or sharp bladed edge.

Actually, this is my first ACEN so I have an inquiry. I'm planning to bring some of my DVD's/Blu-rays to try and get a few signed. To make it easier on myself I'm bringing a back pack with all of them inside. Are backpacks allowed at the Con? Just curious.

Backpacks are fine, just be aware of how large the pack is so you're not bumping into people. Also, the backpack would not be allowed in the concerts, dances, or Masquerade. But otherwise, not a problem!
