Hi all So this year I decided I'd be making 3 cosplays. 2 for myself, 1 for a friend. I started on the friends first since this would be their first cosplay ever and if anything went wrong with mine I've got ones I can fall back on. I started theirs...about 3 months ago? Still not done xD Mostly because the last parts of have to finish are the messiest and require the most work...they wouldn't take too much time, but I'm lazy. That one's about 85% done. My own cosplays...well, first off I quickly got rid of the idea of making 2 for myself and knocked it down to 1 xD I only started it last week and am already about 50% through. So who else still hasn't finished, I know I can't be the only one xD

I'm not done yet either, but I have about 10% left of my cosplay left. My wig came in which was the only thing I was worried about. You are definitley not alone on not finishing your cosplay, just as long as you aren't finishing the night before, that would be nightmarish O_O

Finishing it the night before would be terrible...I'm trying to space mine out, finishing a piece or two of it every night ^^

Unfortunately since I'm away at school, my cosplay partner has to do all the sewing. OTL So there's quite a bit left to do just to get the bare minimum done. I've taken the wigs/anything else that I can do in my tiny apartment to do, but...I can't lug a sewing machine here on the bus XD It's getting really tense!!

Still working on Lunatic, though the base costume itself is wearable and essentially done as of this last weekend. (Just could use a few adjustments so I don't have to constantly adjust things while walking around.) Still working on the bowgun... just used my lunch break to go home and apply the first coat of spraypaint, so it's coming along nicely!

His cloak is optional (often when he appears, the first thing he does is set it on fire so it burns away), but since I still have a week and a half, and most of the remaining work on the bowgun is of the "do stuff for 10 minutes, let it sit and dry/cure for an hour/day", there's a lot of dead time when I could be doing some sewing. Going to see if I can crank out something good enough that I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in it.

Even though I list Takara as done, I'm still waiting on my puppet to arrive lol ;~; I should've commissioned it a lot earlier!

You're telling me! At 3:00 AM I put on the second and final coat of fabric paint for the 'happy skull' I painted on a purple shirt I'm wearing for Yumi, FINALLY finished up Alan Gabriel's android hand (I might do a little more alterations on it, though), and installed hoops for a shoulder strap for Yumi's guitar. Most of February and March was dedicated to making my friend's Sode no Shirayuki and doing a bit of woodwork for my Senbonzakura, which I finished last weekend.


And yet NOTHING for Byakuya has been sewn yet. Not even the captain's jacket, which I have to handpaint when it does get done. On top of which, I don't even have his white gloves, and once I DO find them they'll inevitably need alteration. About the only things I do have for him are his Kenseikan, Senbonzakura, and sandals. Eep!


But today I hunkered down and bought fabric, patterns, more white fabric paint for the stripes I need to handpaint onto Alan Gabriel's suit (I was gonna wait until the coat was altered, but I might as well start on the pants), and purple dye because the leggings I bought for Yumi weren't quite the right shade. I also returned to the Salvation Army I visited last week, and this time they had the PERFECT boots for Yumi. They just need to be painted...like nearly everything else.

Due to a shoulder tossing in some back issues on top of post-spinal fixings, I'm still not done..just need to paint the rest of these resin pieces..

I just have to dye my hair purple to complete my cosplay! I've scheduled it with my hair person for next Tuesday, but this isn't out of procrastination I swear! I want the purple to look as good as possible so I have to wait to almost the last minute to do it so there aren't too many washes before ACen.

One thing I am procrastinating on is getting all the pieces of my cosplays packed up. I need to start looking for where I put everything! XP

I'd be done now except I decided to make the cloak. But it's going quickly! I only started Wednesday evening, and already have it probably about 60% done. Apparently sewing all the random stuff together for the shirt got me accustomed to the kind of nonsense I have to do to sew this cloak...

I actually finished a week before ACen this year.Only because I stayed up until about 5am this morning sewing and painting some last minute things, even though I had work at 10am.
But this is the first year I've EVER finished before the last day before ACen.

Hurry up, ya'll. It gets stressful right about now. ;D

On the plus side, I actually work a reasonable schedule in the coming week, so all is not lost. And all of the things that needed me to make patterns for them have had their patterns made, which is the obnoxious part, so I think it should be okay? I hope it should be okay. OMFG it better be okay. XP

...Well, actually, I'm a little less stressed. This evening I finally put the last coat of paint on the last batch of stripes for Alan Gabriel's pants. Now I'm just waiting for the suit coat to be altered so I can paint the stripes on there, too, but the coat should be easier because there's less surface space to cover. (And while waiting for the paint to dry, I looked up how to tie a Half Windsor knot; it totally slipped my mind that I needed to learn how to do it. )

I also finished Yumi's boots, fixed up her guitar a bit, and I'm slated to get Byakuya's gloves tomorrow. Sewing also begins tomorrow...God willing.

And despite all this, I really want to make a tomato plushie for Alan.

I've made a little progress so far this weekend My friend's cosplay is 95% done, just small details left. And my cosplay is about 75% done, just shoes and two props left to do. Getting close everyone!!

I'm finished with the entire outfit for my Gaara cosplay, the only thing that's left is the gourd. It's got two full layers of paper mache on it currently, and it's drying at my house while I'm in class. It needs a third layer, and if it peels more, a fourth. It still needs to be painted and everything! And A-Cen's this weekend! I know it'll be done by then, but oh, I've never worked so hard on a paper mache in my life. xD Oh, and my ninja shoes aren't done yet, but those're easy.

Mom found some cheapish white prom gloves on her way home, so now I can get to work on altering them for Byakuya (*is actually ripping seams in-between typing*). Meanwhile, Yumi's wig is finally styled and sitting to the side until I give it a final brush before Thursday packing, and I somehow found the time to start making a little plush tomato I can use as a little prop for Alan. Aside from that, all that's left is...

--altering Alan's suit coat
--altering Yumi's skirt
--painting stripes on that suit coat
--sewing darn near everything for Byakuya
--painting the symbols on Byakuya's captain's jacket
--getting Alan's hat

But considering I finished last year's cosplays at 8 PM the day before I was set to leave, I'm hoping I got this year in the bag.

AWWWWW YEAH.

Finished Lunatic's cloak in four days despite the massive migraine, and I just got his bowgun functioning the way I wanted it to function. I think I'm set.

Unless I want to make one more prop for another costume I'm bringing... possibly I should look up some reference images, because it's awfully tempting.

I'm pretty much done! ^.^ I finished my witch hat and I need to make some slight alterations on some gloves and I'm good to go. Packing and buying snacks are next on my list. Phew

the bow and arrows seemed like a simple idea...then of course you find out just how tedious and difficult and inefficient your prop making plan is...pffff....but it's getting done, hopefully I'll find a decent way to finish the foam and I also need to learn how to braid my hair (nope never done that and I have no one to help).

Yumi's done! *whew!* The suit coat's also been altered, and I'm getting the hat tomorrow, so by then Alan Gabriel should also be done; just need to find the boots I already got and a little golden pin to put in his tie.

Byakuya I'll give until Thursday afternoon; it's gonna be under the wire with him.
