I'm sure there are those who stream anime online, and watch through other methods. Me, I'm a purchaser and collector. I buy tons of stuff, thanks to Rightstuf and Funimation making it so affordable, and currently I've amassed a pretty good sized quantity of anime that I have yet to get through, I'm buying 'em faster than I can watch them, is what I'm saying.

Anywho thought it'd be cool to make a thread so people could post their recent purchases, it also helps in maybe finding and hearing about stuff some of us otherwise wouldn't know about.

Over the past week, I've received all these in the mail....

Yeah, sorry, should have included Manga in the title. Doesn't seem as I can edit the title though. Perhaps an admin can do so. I'd appreciate it.

Anywho, I'm not much of a manga purchaser at this point, been concentrating on anime, but there are manga's that I'd like to get into at some point. Mainly stuff from Clamp, and Gantz. I loved the anime for Gantz, and some buddies have told me that the manga goes well beyond what I saw in the anime so it'd be cool to check that out sometime. Maybe I can find some of that at the convention.

Latest anime purchase: Madoka Magica DVD #2, basic version. Quality stuff.

Latest manga purchase: Is This a Zombie trade paperback #1. Um, not exactly quality...

The former was from Rightstuf.com, which is one of my favorite specialty retailers. A whole bunch of bargains every week, and useful email reminders. The latter was from Books a Million in the Loop, which isn't bad as far as small bookstores go. (My other purchases of new physical products in the last few months have been from FYE, Barnes and Noble, and the bookstore in Mitsuwa Marketplace. I should return to Dreamland Comics in Schaumburg soon.)

Most recent purchase of a used-condition product: Saber Marionette J DVD #2, which I found for only $5 at The Exchange just a couple blocks from the Damen stop on the Blue Line. If I'm in Schaumburg, or on Army Trail Road in between Barrington and Roselle Road, sometimes I'll find bargain-priced DVDs at CD Trader shops.

I just bought Angel Beats!
so far it's the only anime I've watched that's made me bust out laughing then go to crying. Needless to say, I love it.
And I splurged on a ton of Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli stuff.

Angel Beats can be downright difficult to watch. Much of the credit belongs to writer Jun Maeda. I first started taking note of his creative output after the TV anime version of Air. If you're looking for more Jun Maeda series, then try the Clannad TV anime, which may be the best of the harem story adaptations. In the near future, there will be an adaptation of Little Busters, but if you're willing to try something different, then you can read a fully translated, worksafe Windows version of the original visual novel.

I THINK it was the blu-ray of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. And I got that two years ago. Shows how I never buy anime anymore. O_o Manga, it was the first volume of Boogiepop Phantom.

Yeah, unfortunately for me, those copies of Ghost Hound are not dubbed. Damn Sentai. There are dubbed versions of the anime available on DVD and Blu-ray, I just didn't realize that these were not it. Worst is that Ghost Hound is a Monica dub anime, which means that these things are useless to me, and I'll have to buy the proper version to replace these.

Most recently, I found a copy of volume 1of the old ADV set of Kanon on ebay brand new and sealed. Finally completes my set.



Oh, and I'm typing this on my Mac mini keyboard.

Ah, I see. Well I love subbed anime, and the only real dub I'm in love with along with the sub is Ghost in the Shell. So if you're looking to get rid of your Ghost Hound subbed...hit me up. You would please one of Masamune Shirow's biggest fans <3.

Well I'm home, and I had an awesome time on the first day of the Con. Bought a Witchblade figure, and a bunch of wallscrolls. Speaking of Witchblade, I got to sit in on a panel with one of my favorite voice actresses Jamie Marchi...



...afterwards I coaxed her into taking a picture with my ugly self...



....and later at her autograph session got her to sign a couple of things, including the aforementioned figure.









Even got a picture taken with Mr Cool Ian Sinclair.



After having sat in on a panel that included him, Brina Palencia, and Joel McDonald.

I seriously hope you are prepared for that one. You may have heard stuff about it, but it pales to actually watching it. Hell, the first 9 minutes of episode one are unlike anything I've ever seen.

Just the other day I bought Fairy Tail parts 1-4 for 22 bucks a piece (Cheapest you'll find them elsewhere on the web is about 35, sell for 50 normally) which was a steal on amazon. They've got the sale going on the rest of the week if anyone is interested ^^

As for manga...haha, I won't go too into those since I bought over 30 at Acen (one booth was selling them for 3 bucks a pop at Acen once you hit 30) But in that 30 I managed to collect the vast majority of the Rave Master series xD

it might, I cant remember. I dont think they dubbed it. its dual audio (my roommate and I split it and since shes very new to anime she wants to see stuff in english first) and i dont think its there. but I have seen that episode and it made me cry and cry and cry. I'm gonna show it to her and I will only show her that one subbed even if it is in dub since they did such a great job with it subbed.

Elfen Lied is the only anime that has made me legit cry (aside from GITS at the ending of each incarnation because there was no more to watch) XD
